Can you pass this Thanksgiving Quiz? If not, maybe you need to review history before the revisionists completely rewrite it. Click on the link for the answers. This would make a great conversation piece for the Thanksgiving Day dinner table.

2. Why did they celebrate Thanksgiving?
3. When did Thanksgiving become a national holiday?
4. Why did the Pilgrims leave Europe?
5. How did the Pilgrims emigrate to the New World?
6. What is the Mayflower Compact?
7. What is the significance of the Mayflower Compact?
8. What does the Mayflower Compact say?
9. Why didn't the pilgrims sail to the original destination in Virginia?
10. What role did the lone surviving Indian play in the lives of the Pilgrims?
11. Were the colonists dedicated to Christian principles in their lives on days other than Thanksgiving?
12. How did the Pilgrims organize their economic activities?
13. What has been the significance of the Pilgrims and their legacy of Thanksgiving?
14. How were Christian principles brought to the founding of this republic?
15. How influential were Christian ideas in the Constitution?
16. Weren't many of the founders non-Christians?
17. How important was Christianity in colonial education in America?
18. How important was Christianity in colonial higher education?
19. If Christianity was so important in colonial America, why does the Constitution establish a wall of separation between church and state?

Notes to support the answers:

1. William Bradford, Of Plymouth Plantation, ed. Samuel Eliot Morison (New York: The Modern Library, 1967), Chapter XI.
2. Bradford Smith, Bradford of Plymouth (Philadelphia and New York: J.B. Lippincott, 1951), 189.
3. Bradford, Of Plymouth Plantation, 81.
4. Marshall Foster, The American Covenant (Thousand Oaks, CA: The Mayflower Institute, 1992), 86-87.

That's an excellent link! Thank you!

This Thanksgiving, let me mention that among my blessings, I count you all.

I'm thankful that there is still this little corner of the web where the fort-holder-downers are (basically Wink ) sane, reasonable, interesting people who aren't afraid of the truth.

When things look bleak out there in the nutcase land of state-approved media, I can always poke in here and be reminded that there are still people who love our military, our country, our freedom and the principles upon which the country was founded.

Thank you! And a Happy Thanksgiving to every single one of you!

I agree and join you in offering thanks for this board and the wonderful members who continue to educate, delight, and encourage me. The Probe.org website where that test is located contains a wealth of information. One of my favorite pages is the History and Quizzes page, where this Thanksgiving Quiz came from. There are other quizzes for other holidays along with little known history articles.
