Can you look into this claim?

In the purple hearts he received, were any for a wound deep enough to leave inoperable shrapnel?

Well he never missed a day of duty. Not even the 24 hours that i've heard was a qualifier.
Bacitricin and a band aid for the first.
Dunno about the second.
They dug the piece of rice out of his butt on the third. The contusion on his arm went with the advice to "soak in warm water."
