ABC news led off with the Kerry/SBVT story. I expected ABC news to rip apart SBVT, but they didn't. I think it was fair, raised questions about Kerry, gave the SBVT's website, and didn't land a single glove on the SBVT. My chin is still on the floor. Kerry said "bring it on", well, i'm not sure he was expecting this.

He has left himself open for a withering Bush attack. Hopefully, McCain by now knows alittle more about the situation and will recant his earlier statement Mr. Green Confused

Never trust ABC, they are liberals who want and will do anything to
discredit the president. If they are speaking out now, there is a reason
for it, other than the one the Swiftvets have forced the msm to say
something, with help from the bloggers who have gone all out to spread
the truth.
I wonder if there had been a internet and honest blogers in 71 if the
people of America would have believed what he said then. At that time
the liberals were the only media, we did not have Fox, Rush, Hugh and
the many others who have spoken out. I can understand how he got
away with his lies and distortions then because there was no one to
call him a liar as has happened now.
Well, we reap what we sow, and he is getting a real harvest of
the lies he spoke then that are hurting him now, badly and very deserved
it is.
Do not trust the msm, they have had some time to think, and my
worry is we will end up with Hillary if Kerry is made to resign. Rolling Eyes

cjg,

I don't trust the MSM, but they have been caught with their shorts around their ankles. IMHO they have decided to stop protecting Kerry and start protecting what is left of their tattered integrity.

In fact (again based on my childhood expiences with Democratic Machine Politics) the DNC is probably meeting right now with Kerry to try to get him to step down. The polls overall may still look good, but the DNC leadership knows a feeding frenzy and a tanking candidate when the see one. All IMHO of course

I agree...MSM did get caught with their pants down and now are trying to pull them back up without showing their a**es! The MSM had better realize there is a reason Fox News is doing so well and climbing in the ratings...the other HALF of this country is conservative...and actually I think that most of the country with the exception of CA, NY and the big cities the majority of American's are more conservative on a whole.

I am going to sit back and laugh....and support the swiftvets. These men have displayed nothing but honor once again. Makes me prouder to say I am a vet!

No way. The Democrats will lose the presidential election now, so they will look for a sacrificial lamb. Clinton is being groomed for 2008.

If Kerry steps down, I expect either Edwards or Clarke to take his place.

It will be Edwards and a new vp pick, but not Wesley Clarke, he has already discredited himself by attaching to slimemeister mikey moore.

Lieberman would be a good pick, but I don't think he could handle going down a second time.

IM-NS-HO you are dead on. The tide turned today. In the Washington Post article attacking Thurlow, they cited the "Unfit for Command" version of the day #3 hit the mine and Kerry left - verbatim. They also said Thurlow and the other five boat officers were in a position to know: check out the quotes:

“As one of five Swift boat skippers who led the raid up the Bay Hap River, Thurlow was a direct participant in the disputed events.”

“For much of the episode, Kerry was not in a position to know firsthand what was happening on Thurlow's boat, as Kerry's boat had sped down the river after the mine exploded under another boat. He later returned to provide assistance to the stricken boat.”

Local all-news radio here today (KYW - Philadelphia) referred to SBVT as "those who served with or alongside Kerry in Vietnam." KYW is available to about three million people every day in the metro-area. It is the "go-to" for quick weather, sports, news and traffic. And they repeat the same taped copy all day.

What ever happened to, "They did not serve with John Kerry, they are lying (about that)" - Lanny Davis

It is all about "tone" in the MSM - their choice of words and how they characterize something, not in the factual material. This is how they form opinions - it is like creating background music for your thinking.

What is on the line here - and I think what the MSM has just awakened to, is that their millions in campaign ad revenue, their ability to make and break candidates by a wink and a tone, the power of money to create and make "image" via media manipulation for candiadtes and to get favors in return after they are elected - all this is on the line if citizens can organize around the Internet and the truth and destroy an establishment candidate.

They have to be the ones to take him out, or they will be seen as mincing ex-Big Guns who only shoot blanks after the gunfught is over.

Tom Eagleton, we remember you from '72!
