There is nobody in this group that has ever been a pigboat (P5M)
aircrewman?

I was an Air Controlman and we were very familiar with lots of different airplanes, but I don't recall ever hearing of a pigboat plane. Wink

I surmise that they were patrol craft, like P3's? Subhunters, maybe?

What did you do?

P5M Martin Marlin Seaplane-At one time the largest twin engine
aircraft in the world.
We operated from seaplane bases here in the USA and
in Viet Nam from Cam Rahn Bay and supported by Tenders
The Pine Island,Currituck,and Salisbury Sound
We flew up and down the Mekong River area in 1966-67
Our Home base was Sangley Pt. Republic of the Phillipines
I was in VP-40 for 3-yrs,then came back on the Bennington CVS-20
Combat support aircrew in 1968-gunfire spotter for the New Jersey
Ticonderoga CV-14 in 1972
P3C out of Guam-(VQ-1) 1973-75
