Kerry wants to bring...it...on... comparing his and Bush's service records.

OK. Let's compare:

Kerry: 4 months in Nam 35 years ago, only 3 of those months spent on boats when not making home movie "re-enactments" of combat scenes for future political ads; getting slivers taken out of his arm or butt; falsifying after-action reports to make himself the hero; applying for medals; re-applying for medals; meeting with Zumwalt so he could complain; writing journals for his future biography; dreaming of sugar plums on Christmas Eve; collecting CIA hats, and having searing memories in Cambodia. Decorations and valor: doubtful and disputed. Used his third Purple Heart as his ticket to leave Nam and his buddies behind. Only unwounded Swift Boat skipper not to serve out his full year in Nam. Post-service: made himself famous as anti-war vet, calling himself, those he served with and the chain of command war criminals (though the only war criminal he managed to expose was him with his Zippo lighter). Aided and abetted the enemy while still a naval officer by meeting with the Communist delegation during the Paris peace talks. Published a book in 1971 called the "The New Soldier" whose cover bears his name as author and a photo mocking the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima, with the flag raised upside down (downloadable at http://www.eskimo.com/~larrygj/TheNewSoldier.pdf). Spent the next 30 years as an undistinguished, anti-military "dove" politician.

Bush: 3.5 years Commander in Chief and still on the job. Regime changes in Afghanistan and Iraq. Libya neutralized. Turned Pakistan from adversary to ally against the Taliban and al-Qaeda. Revealed our true European allies (UK, Italy, Poland, 12 other NATO countries and Australia) and exposed our real European adversaries (France, Germany, Russia). Exposed the impotence and corruption of the UN. Thousands of Taliban, B'aath and al-Qaeda arrests and kills, including up to 2/3 of their leadership. Prevention of recent terrorist plots. No attacks on US since 9/11. Created Department of Homeland Security. Oh, yes, and, 35 years ago, service in the Texas Air National Guard, Honorable Discharge.

So, who has the better resume here? Who is better qualified to serve as CinC?

P.S. I came up with this all by myself, with no help from George Bush or the Bush Campaign or the RNC or Karl Rove, and I got no financial aid whatsoever from those fatcat Texas Republicans or that Perry guy. I can actually think for myself. Honest.

Arty,

(troll alert)

Bush's actions were honorable. He never claimed awards or recognition he did not earn. Kerry's actions were anything but.

Larry - awesome post. Nice job - a debate I'd love to see. Worth adding at the end that Bush not only served in the NG and was honorably discharged but performed the dangerous job of flying jets. The dems can say whatever they want - but fighter pilots lay it all on the line every time they take off.

I like the way you think! Even had to copy it so I could show some people who only beleive NBC, ABC and CBS. Maybe they will start to connect dots and think for themselves.
