KERRY CAMPAIGN ACCUSES BUSH O' CHEATIN'
But maybe they should take the BEAM out of their own eye instead?

The Kerry campaign, in an attempt to hinder or stop the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, has resorted to conspiracy theories. According to news reports, the Kerry campaign is alleging that the Bush campaign is receiving illicit funding.

To explain this, they point out that Bob Perry, a long time acquaintance of President Bush (going back to his days as Governor)also donated money, in the sum of $100,000 dollars, to the Swift Boat Vets. For the Kerry campaign, this comes across as something akin to money laundering, only in a political sense.

To simplify their stance: Perry donated money to the Swift Boat Vets. Perry knows Bush. Perry also donated some money to the re-election of Bush. Ergo: conspiracy.

Oh, really? The FEC doesn't say a person cannot give to a group like the Swifties AND to a candidate or incumbent. Unless, of course, said group is actively promoting, or demoting, a candidate running for office. But the Swifties have not promoted Bush. Nor have they donated money to re-elect Bush. In fact, none of them even KNOW Bush. The only tie that binds is way down in Houston, Texas.

ON THE OTHER HAND... If the Kerry campaign wanted to be totally honest (and wouldn't THAT be refreshing) they would mention their own "moat" in the form of Jared Polis.

Polis, an ardent Democrat, made his millions by selling the family's online greeting card company before the dot.com crash.He walked away with a cool $800 million dollars and started the Polis Foundation. Polis also has ties to the Rocky Mountain Progressive Network, which bills itself as "a non-profit formed to provide a "'fair and balanced' response to the radical right-wing interests that dominate our region's politics and media". Are we surprised?

Polis also sits on the Colorado State School Board and has tried his hand at more advanced politicking as well.

But there's even more to the Polis story. You see, the connection between him and Kerry's bid for President is much cleaner, much clearer, than the muddy conspiracy theory espoused by the Kerry campaign and aimed at President Bush.

According to an article in the NEW YORK SUN, Polis donated some $200,000 to a group called MOVEON.ORG (July 15, 2004). In March of 2004, the Boulder News reported that Polis donated $2,000 each to Graham, Leiberman, Clark and KERRY, during their bids as Democratic hopefuls.

If that isn't enough, the Rocky Mountain News reported (April 26, 2004) that Polis donated $37,000 to Kerry's election campaign.

SAY WHAT???

Okay, let's get this straight.

According to the Kerry folk, it's wrong, and against the law apparently, for Perry to have donated to both the Swifties and to Bush, even though the Swifties aren't actively electioneering for Bush.

But it's okay, I suppose, that Polis donated to both Kerry and MOVEON.ORG, the latter of which has been running anti-Bush ads for months and even promoted Farenheit 9-11?

Somehow, this seems to be typical for the Democrats, in particular, the Kerry campaign. He demands Bush tell the Swifties to stop slamming him (with the truth, btw). Yet Kerry never said word one about MOVEON.ORG nor the Moore film. He just opted to ignore them, which is what Bush has been doing with the Swifties, until now.

Bush had asked Kerry to join with him in calling an end to all of these ads. Kerry didn't do it. But that was when he, and his campaign, and the moveon.org people, thought the Swifties posed no "immediate threat". Well, surprise, surprise, surprise!

Before the Kerry campaign presses the FEC issue much farther, they better check into their own little brew pot. There's a lot stirring there!
