According to the documents on Kerry´s site, he transferred to the Inactive Ready Reserve 02JAN70, then to the Standby Reserve in JUL72 where he remained until discharged in FEB78.
Was he subject to the UCMJ during this entire period? If so, what about his meetings with representatives of the North Viet Nam government, et. al? What about his comments in front of the Fullbright Commission?
Another interesting question: why was a DD-215 issued in 2001 changing the date of transfer to inactive duty from Jan 70 to Mar 70? Thirty years after the fact, would this have been done at Kerry´s request? How is that possible if he didn´t work and draw pay? If there is no Fitrep covering that period? How could the Navy honor such a request without documentation? What would be his motive? When did the Fullbright Hearings take place or some other potentially sensitive action? By the way, I bet he already had people planning his campaign in 2001. Something smells here...
