The home page no longer works. I get a blank page and SQL error. I arrived at this page though the back door by using "History" to log on
Sad Sad

I'm having similar problems. I tend to think it's because the site is being perused quite heavily at times and slowing things down. I'm on dial-up and sometimes it'll take 7-8 minutes just to open a thread during the afternoon hours. Other times I just get a 404 Page Not Found error.

This is probably a good thing! Smile It means the word is getting out.

I had the same problem getting in, I just kept getting a dead link. I waited a few minutes and was able to get on just fine. I think its a bandwidth thing, the Swiftees are likely getting a lot of hits due to all of this publicity that their server is getting overwhelmed

I had trouble too. I would not put it past people to try and crash the site.

Thousands of web sites and blogs are linking to the site as well as all the exposure it's getting on radio and television.

The techs have been working on the server, too. Smile

Ma'am, you and all the others who work so very hard to keep this site going don't get near enough praise....

....thank you, thank you, thank you...

....to each and every one who works so hard to get out the TRUTH.

The Site must be getting hammered with Hits. I have seen comments on other Forums where people have been trying to get on here and can not.
I myself have had a lot of Timeouts today as well as Page Not Found Errors.

I've had trouble too and it seems the site has grown too fast. IMO, one way to cope with it is to avoid posting frivolous items such as the 55th thank you or high five. These are great and everyone needs encouragement and I hope this message does not discourage anyone or reduce the zeal. But keeping it reasonable will help with the shortage of bandwidth and server speed.

Admins might correct me on this if it's wrong:
The messages, for the most part are all text.
That means all data can be delivered in about a few 'packets', which are typically around 2048 bytes (characters) per packet. A whole page of posts are probably around 8000 bytes.
What slows things down is the 'sequel server' getting a lot of requests at once.
This is a real nice problem to have.
What seems to be going on, basically, are thousands of people across the nation basically asking to see more data (our posts) all at once. When I couldn't get on this afternoon, the error messages I got was "unable to connect to database" or "too many users logged on".
On the downside, you might assume about 10% of those requests come from trolls, attempting a "DoS" (Denial of Service) attack.

I don't think we're getting hit; I think we're becoming the site to visit. It's good news.

Jerry Doyle was reporting on his show that the hits on this site are nearly surpassing the hits on Kerry's site.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm!

Correct, it's the number of connections that are being attempted, most of those to "process" pages vs. pages of straight html.

You can see a comparison of the traffic for this site vs. the official JK site here:

Alexa.com

Now keep in mind that many of the pages are not served through www.swiftvets.com, but a separate server - I would bet that our traffic is actually far exceeding that of the Kerry site. Wink

(Before downloading the toolbar on the alexa site, as with any other software, we recommend that you read and consider the Privacy Policy for that software.)
