I think the Post's new story, today, repeats a lot of the same old thing. And it could be answered with a FAQ from those who were there, that day. Somebody needs to co-ordinate with these guys and just get the solid story.

For example, in the book. There's mention of Rassman possibly falling off a 35 boat. There was no 35 boat. There's none mentioned in the reports. And if the 3 was meant, it was across the river. Chenoweth is said to lead Kerry through on the right. But the Post says that Chenoweth in his own diary says he was directly behind the 3 boat. There had been no mention, until Kerry people raised it, of three bullet holes in the 51, just as the Swifties had not noted that their citations for the days referred to enemy fire. And now another from Droz' boat is saying that there was enemy fire at least on his side. And Droz isn't even mentioned in the book, which is again surprizing.

I would just suggest that those who know, who were there, might just consider releasing the following information:

1) possibly: citations and recommendations for actions occuring on these contested days of 28 FEB and 13 MAR, or which might otherwise be relevant,

2) personal accounts or diaries regarding the same events, or others which might be relevant,

3) An explanation of the codes and abbreviations, and their significance, and the types of reports issued, in that era, so that one might intelligently read those already available.

4) But more importantly, their own collective explanation of what happened on those days, since the book is apparently unreliable at points - diagrams of the action on both days, which boats were involved, who specifically were the crews, and passengers, if any, to scale rendering of the waterways, obstructions, terrain when going ashore, explanation of damage reports, or what was really damaged or not,

5) specifically for the 13 MAR incident, I think they might add multiple diagrams of the position of the boats roughly minute to minute, marked by key events. It might only be an estimate, a rough memory. But it would be something.

If one had the complete crew lists, the description of the events, with diagrams, a means for others to decipher report codes and significance of terms, and all the rest, a lot of the criticism from the leftwing 'mainstream' would have been answered before the question was asked. One can't anticipate everything. But just laying out a clear record of events would be something I think would fall to those who themselves were eyewitnesses. No one else really knows. And you haven't had that kind of detailed documentation on this site. I wish they would. And someone like myself can only ask.

The participants here are working on compiling a FAQ - it's stickied at the top of the Research and Resources forum.

Please read the posts already there and feel free to contribute. Smile
