What is now a hot topic in a bitter campaign will one day be reduced by the faint of heart as "foggy" memories, and all's fair in love, war and politics. I, for one, will never look back and see these past few weeks as in a mist. I will see it as a time when good men did what is unprecedented in modern political debate - they told the truth.

Despite facing an opponent who has "MORHPED" his way through the political landscape (a man capable of changing his story as easily as ones flips a switch) the swiftees have stuck to their stories and kept the guns hot.

For a man whose medals morph to ribbons and then back again it is fitting that he remains true (if that can said) to his deceitful roots. He was against the war before he joined the Navy and then used his service as a way to play it both ways; as a "war hero" and then as a anti-war protagonist. It is too bad that the military brass didn't have the courage back then to send a message to this propagandist, namely, "it ain't gonna fly in this Navy".

So here we are years later watching these men try to correct what an earlier generation did not. I feel very fortunate to have seen a remnant of the sixties generation stand for the truth, take the hits, and still go full-speed ahead.

thanks swift vets
