I just really need to get this out of my system then i will be off the board. Most people i tell this to just look at me with a funny look. ( many years a ago) My dad was in the Air force- me not really knowing what he did I was never sure where he was( but to my knowledge his was not in nam). I remember the years we had " hippies".( and so do a lot of others reading this) I remember watching the fun they were having on tv and i remember them protoesting the war. I did not understand why we were fighting. Then i did a liitle research and found out why. I did not understand why the people protesting would damage the property of others and how things could get so out of hand for everyone and everything. I did not understand what was happening and on the news everynight I was seeing the boys, the boys not much older than myself, dying to fight for freedomof people. I remember being very proud of our flag, and then i heard some young soldier had thrown his metals over a fence because he did not agree with what was going on I remember crying for everyone he had just slapped in the face, the lost sons, fathers and brothers and many still in the middle of a major war, and they were 18 and dying. I remember Kerrys testimony and the horrors of what he said was going on and they still died. It made matters much worse that he would make statements like he did while the war was still going on for all America ( think about it I know you remember) the protestors and the boys and men fighting the war. I just could not beleive what I was hearing and reading. I remember watching the end of the war and the men being flown home and the reuninons with their families that we were allowed to be apart of on TV. You cannot play video of these reunions today or i still cry. I could not beleive the treatment that people chose to show the boys and men who returned to it left me with a very heavy heart and i wanted to hug everyone i saw in uniform. ( I WAS 11-13 years of age when this happened) Now to present day -- I remember the day i heard on the news that John Kerry had thrown his metalsonce in protest of the war. I was in the kitchen fixing supper--I stopped, I cried. How can a person who created so much conflict in America even think he could be the leader of this great US. The conflict that was then is returning to be a conflict that is now. John Kerry these HONORABLE MEN have voiced their Voices, I only hope that the many others you have hurt, effected and disgraced will also speak with thier votes.
