Was John Kerry in Vietnam like Corporal Klinger in M*A*S*H*?

As some of you may recall, Corporal Klinger, as played by the unforgettable Jamie Farr, was so desperate to get out of Korea during the war that he continually dressed up like a woman in order to plead insanity. It didn't work.

Well, let's take a look at John Kerry's Vietnam.

Unlike what the left and Kerry himself will tell you, he only volunteered for military service when a education deferment to study in Paris (where else?)wasn't granted. So he joined the Naval Reserve hoping that he could avoid direct combat. His desire for thet deferment, then, puts him in the same category as that "coward" Cheney, and his desire to avoid combat puts him in the same category as that "AWOL" jerk George W. Bush.

He spends months on a naval vessel AWAY from combat.

He then volunteers for Swift Boat duty because a)he thinks it'll make him look like another JFK b) he thinks it will allow him to get a bird's eye view of combat without actually being in it. Little did he know that the military was changing it's assessmnet of Swift Boat military use in Vietnam.

Once he gets on a Swift Boat, he does EVERYTHING he can to get off a Swift Boat. All evidence points to the "three Purple Heart" strategy to get out, just as Klinger tried the "I'm wearing a dress" strategy to get out too.

He gets that Purple Heart for what Bob Dole describes as wounds for which he did not bleed and for which he was not hospitalized.

Unlike the John Kerry he and the left want you to see, evidence suggests a man who, despite having endured enemy combat for four months he 'volunteered', did everything humanly possible to get out of that responsibility in a war he always hated. Furthermore, he worked furiously to not only depict himself as a hero in that war, by re-enacting scenes on a camera he brought with him, but used that 'heroism' to get himself out of there as fast as humanly possible.

Not only that, but he used that 'hero' status to BOTH trash his fellow vets and advance himself poltically. Yeah, some "hero"

Indeed, despite the accepted view of Kerry as a war hero, he may well have always been a coward who shamelessly both ran away from combat and used that same combat to cast himself a hero. Wow!

Perhaps this depiction of Kerry is way off. But, since he refuses to release all of his records, it's all we have to go on right now.

It is evil for Kerry to depict us the way he did 4/22/71.

I wouldn't classify Kerry a coward in the Nam, as I believe that there were never any cowards there. Just a group of American Troopers fighting and waiting to rotate back to the world. When Kerry re-entered the world, you can take your pick of names to labels him as they would surely fit.
I believe that in Kerry's grand scheme of things, he was politically motivated to first punch his ticket as a war hero and then on to being an anti-war hero. These seemed to be his stepping stones to Congress especially in one of the most liberal congressional districts in his state.
All has worked well for Kerry until now where he just had to reach for the top banana spot and now his checkered past has become his current nightmare.
