Here in Australia we have a Returned Services League (membership includes current service personnel, associate membership for others) which operates thousands of licenced clubs all over the country.

In these clubs whatever is happening - meals, concerts, slot machines - stops at EXACTLY 2100 hours every night. House lights are dimmed, everyone stands in silence while the following ode, which I believe applies just as well to September 11 victims, is read:

They shall not grow old
As we, who are left, grow old.

Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun
And in the morning

We will remember them.

(One minute's silence then all say)

LEST WE FORGET!

Very touching. It is an International problem, and it is great to see others are remembering.
