The purported Texas ANG documents were not just apparent forgeries, but very bad forgeries. There are dozens of attributes that have been identified as conspicuously suspicious in the past two days. It is not inconceivable that someone put these very bad forgeries out there in order to obtain a quick and cheap education on how to create convincing forgeries. This may be just a small diversion to a much bigger future operation involving more convincing forgeries. In any event, any documents presented by or on behalf of the Kerry campaign must be subject to the most exacting scrutiny.
