February 1:  Happiness: What is It?  Is It an Entitlement?
Last year, 4000 books were published on the subject of happiness. At least 100 universities offer courses on positive psychology, and thousands of Americans take medications for depression because they are not happy. Glenda Hubbard will explore the topic of happiness: what it is, and what it isn't, and whether we are all entitled to this condition.
Wednesday, February 4:  Vegetarian Potluck:  A reminder here for our next congregational vegan and vegetarian potluck! Wednesday the 4th at 6pm at the UU. Bring your favorite veg dish with a printed note card of the ingredients.

Potlucks typically are on the first Wednesday of each month.

February 8: Do You Believe in God?

Since earliest times, most humans have had a sense of a power greater than themselves. Today that concept may be called God, Goddess, Yahweh, Allah, Universal Spirit, or Ground of All Being. As Unitarian Universalists we are encouraged to be our own theologians and determine our own images of God. Members of BUUF will share their ideas and beliefs of what the word "God" means to them.

February 15:  Lincoln's Legacy: Healing a Nation

In his book 1865: The Month that Saved America author Jay Winik focuses on Abraham Lincoln's legacy, and Lincoln's final vision for bringing the country back together after the Civil War. Readings from Winik's book as well as literature from that era will help us better understand how Americans began the long process of moving on from the bitterness of the war.

February 22:  Living in Community: the Most Difficult Spiritual Discipline

Whether we are working things out in our own household, or in a religious community, we are challenged to balance our individual  needs with those of the group as we make decisions together. This is a year for important decisions that will require significant commitments. We will take some time to consider  how the experience of community can be enriched and united by the process.
