Marjorie
was active in the Unitarian Fellowship for many years in Miami. She fell in
love with Boone when the UU had their annual conference at the Appalachian
State University, back in the 1970's. She would bring her three young girls
to the UU conference at ASU in Boone from Miami every summer and then in the
late 1980's she bought five acres on the side of a mountain just north of
Boone on Junaluska Road, and spent her summers there, becoming active with
the Boone Fellowship. She died July 4, 2006 at home in Jacksonville, Florida
where she had lived with her daughter Sally (husband Dan Markus) and two of
her grandchildren, Samantha & Kimberly Markus, since 1998. She was born
January 24, 1920. Her other two daughters are Linda Marks, who lives in
California and Arlene Griese (husband Paul, children Alison and Brian) who
live in Atlanta. |
