She would bring her three young girls to the UU conference at ASU in Boone from Miami every summer and then in the late 1980's she bought five acres on the side of a mountain just north of Boone on Junaluska Road, and spent her summers there, becoming active with the Boone Fellowship. She died July 4, 2006 at home in Jacksonville, Florida where she had lived with her daughter Sally (husband Dan Markus) and two of her grandchildren, Samantha & Kimberly Markus, since 1998. She was born January 24, 1920. Her other two daughters are Linda Marks, who lives in California and Arlene Griese (husband Paul, children Alison and Brian) who live in Atlanta.
