They've given a gift we can never repay
But it's my endeavour to thank them some way
Knee deep in the mud with a blood sullied face
They struggled for freedom with valor and grace
Some men never served yet some served and turned
and spat on the honor that braver men earned
Turncoats aside, it is quite clear to me
The Vietnam Veteran knew freedom's not free
