Great state but I think they gave up their right to secede when they were readmitted into the Union after the Civil War. It should be in their state constitution. _________________ Never Ever Give Up

Great email, I was sent that from a friend last Spring. Love it.
buffman: We retained the right to secede. Texans don't give up nothing. All we need is a simple majority vote from our Republican controlled legislature. Don't mess with Texas.
If Kerry wins the election the US flag comes down, and I am running the Texas flag up the pole. It will remain until Kerry is impeached and removed from office. _________________ The last refuge of scoundrels is not patriotism; it is finicky liberal humanitarianism.--Martin Paretz |

The 1848 Annexation also allowed Texas to subdivide into four states at a later date.
The last attempt at cessation was settled by force of arms and any constituional right there to was never adjudicated.
The Johnson Space Center may not be Ft Sumner but is a Federal installation paid for with tax dollars from all 50 states.
Still there's something to it but don't be so parochial. If Kerry wins Texas might not be alone.....al Qaida would love it. |

I've been trying to move back to Texas for the last three years--I spent part of my growing-up years there (Paris, Lamar County, way far NE corner) and still have family there--I do believe that gives me dual citizenship and, therefore, the critters and I would be there in a heartbeat if need be--
Don't believe it?--Just try me!!--C _________________ “I haven’t seen anyone milk this much out of a bad boat ride since Gilligan” -- Dennis Miller |

As a native Texan, it's "American first...Texan second". Always will be.
The American flag always flies above the Lone Star flag, and rightly so.
Hey, I'm just glad we aren't still a part of Mexico! |

The Federal Gov't does not OWN property in Texas. Everything is leased. |

I will be packing November 3 if "the world comes to an end". If Bush can't carry Florida I will know there is a conspiracy. If President Bush can't come on tv and tell the American people the truth of this explosives issue and that Kerry is wrong, ...well... CTW

Bergstrom: As a fellow Texan I agree with you in theory about the flags. I would have to say though that we would be doing Old Glory a huge favor by not letting her fly under the leadership of a proven traitor. Can you imagine "Old Glory" being disgraced by that? I can't, it would make my heart cry.

Avant and Bergstrom ....
Actually, I thought the Texas flag was more properly flown BESIDE the American flag. I believe we're the only state in the Union that has the right to do that ... am I wrong? |

I had already said this before. Texas could be completely self sustaining as a separate nation.
I've always said it in the past in jest, but for the first time I'm totally serious. I can't see us being under that treasonous Kerry and considering him our CIC. The thought is too revolting.
But never fear......GWB landslide..... |

Well, it's not going to happen--Texas will not secede from the Union. Even I couldn't go along with that. If (GOD FORBID) Kerry wins I will not give up my US citizenship. I am not Pee-air Salinger, cutting and running when I don't like the outcome of a situation. I will stay and fight to take my country back, through whatever means necessary.
The flag of these United States will remain in its place. She stands for much more than one president.
Its like soldiers--they swear to defend and uphold the CONSTITUTION. They don't fight for a president. This isn't old Europe, with emperors and kings.
I sometimes forget that my goofin' around gets taken seriously sometimes. Most of the time my tongue is firmly in cheek. Take about 10% of what I say seriously; the rest is just me trying to stay centered in the midst of the brutality this election has become.
But Texas is still a righteous place to live, and I would be pleased to have any of ya'all for neighbors. _________________ The last refuge of scoundrels is not patriotism; it is finicky liberal humanitarianism.--Martin Paretz |
