Dear Brian: Being an old veteran I got up early Tuesday morning, May 4th hoping C-Span would provide live coverage of the Swift Vets news conference or at the very least, feature one in their group, on a segment of your earlier Journal Show. Neither happened for reasons only you and your producers know. I hope that you will consider inviting the two above mentioned men to discuss and debate related issues concerning John Kerry`s Vietnam experiences both prior and after the war. Mr. Brinkley, both on the Fox News Network and CNN, has tried to dismiss and discredit the Swift Vets for Truth while Mr. O`Neill claims Mr. Brinkley`s book, Tour of Duty is riddled with inaccuracies. Let the American people decide after seeing and hearing from both of them. Sincerely, Jack Mclaughlin, Silver Spring, Md.

Make sure they ask John O'Neill about this.

Quote:
"[Kerry] was an immediate celebrity. He was also an immediate target of the Nixon Administration. Years later, Chuck Colson--who was Nixon's political enforcer--told me, "He was a thorn in our flesh. He was very articulate, a credible leader of the opposition. He forced us to create a counterfoil. We found a vet named John O'Neill and formed a group called Vietnam Veterans for a Just Peace. We had O'Neill meet the President, and we did everything we could do to boost his group."
