And the first article by Philadelphia Inquirer staff writer Dick Polman that I could actually read to the end with my blood pressure only rising moderately, instead of stratospherically:

America Votes - Analysis: Bush outplayed Kerry from start to finish

http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/10095000.htm?1c

... Bush pounced on Kerry's behavior early last spring, and stayed in Kerry's face until the end; clearly, the President and his strategists never bought into the widely held belief that negative attacks turn off the voters. Nor did their independent allies, notably the Swift Boat attackers, appear to believe that.

(oh...so the SwiftVets were independent, not stooges of Karl Rove? Whodathunkit hearing that from the Inquirer - FDL)

The Kerry team thought differently, as evidenced by its decision (destined to be debated all winter) to stay mum the first two weeks of August, when the "Swifties," with seed money from a prominent Texas Republican, unleashed an ad campaign that contended, with no military documentation, that Kerry was not the war hero he claimed to be. As Kerry vacationed in silence, his approval numbers sagged; for millions of voters who barely knew Kerry, he was essentially redefined.

(ummm...no military documentation? Oh well, 2 out of 3 (or 300) isn't a bad batting average for the Inquirer - FDL)

Top Kerry strategists met with journalists Sept. 2; in retrospect, their remarks are revealing. Tad Devine said they had decided not to fire back at the war-vet critics because "swing voters are not looking for an exchange of insults." He said Kerry wanted to fight the Swifties "on our timetable, not theirs" - even though, by that point, the Swifties had done their damage.

(yeah - that's why Kerry didn't respond right away. It had NOTHING to do with the SwiftVet facts being true. Right. Wanna buy a bridge in Brooklyn? -- FDL)

Yeh, they had done their damage. You learn something new every day, I guess.

This is a classic demonstration of the myopia of the left when it comes to real introspection and acknowledgement of their own intellectual dishonesty. Instead of accepting culpability for the abysmal failure to scrupulously "vet" the facade of this "vet", they CLING to the now patently absurd notion that there was no legitimate case made against John Kerry's perfidy.

They manufacture the "Big Lie" and then swallow it whole...and a steady dose of that diet is inexorably relegating them to the status of the politically-neutered.

So, now the media and the liberals trust the military documents over the signed affadavits of many many decorated veterans....

"no military documentation" does not equal NO evidence.....

They continue to ignore the fact that the information presented by Kerry didn't justify his medals. I have yet to see any convincing argument that chasing and killing a VC who was running away could qualify someone for any medal, much less a silver star. Kerry himself admitted on other occasions that two of his purple hearts did not involve enemy action. I believe it was one of his "band of brothers" who said the second one came from Kerry firing an M-79 into a monsoon rain.

One of the biggest problem with the media today is the lack of any basic intelligence.

I think we all know the real reason the Kerry campaign didn't respond...because if they had, it would have forced the press to dig into Kerry's war record, and if the press had done its job honestly and impartially the way it's SUPPOSED to...Kerry would have lost the campaign before he had even started.

I don't think that the Swift Vets are ever going to get a fair shake in the mainstream liberal media. The best they will get is a begrudging acceptance of their effectiveness.

Additional details of how the media spun the facts to make Kerry look better keep coming out. The Newsweek report on the campaign provides proof of the disarray and disorganization of the Kerry campaign; information which was hidden from the public by the reporters who had day-to-day knowledge of what was going on. It is hard to imagine that someone who can't run a campaign organization or even keep members of his own family under control would somehow be able to run the executive branch of the U.S. government.

FDL:

You and I obviously live in the same geographic area. As you probably know by now, the Philadelphia Inquirer's credibility is zilch as evidenced by lost circulation. In fact, over the last three days, they've also been bashing faith based voters. For example, they carried a piece today from a Cynthia Tucker (editorial editor from the Atlanta Journal-DEconstitution). She wrote, "It was a triump for bigotry based on the Bible." In other words, according to these scum, anyone who does not think like you is a bigot, a moron, a Nazi, etc. We've heard it all before.
