President Bush has started an unstoppable wave of moves towards democracy by freedom desiring peoples everywhere. His State of the Union speech was spot on and set the fire of freedom to spread around the world.

One has only to read the reports of freedoms march across the Arab world. The Iraqi Elections were broadcast to Arabs everywhere and they are starting to say, “Why not me? Why can’t I vote?” Mubarak has seen the light in Egypt and called for open elections with opposition candidates. This was unheard of just three months ago.

Assad of Syria is quaking as his intelligence apparatus reports what the feelings are on the street about the Iraqi miracle. Why do you think he gave up Saddam’s brother? The handwriting is on the wall and he is reading the messages.

Taking a look back there is something happening that the MSM is totally ignoring.

Afghanistan a country in shambles, ruled by terrorists and thugs has a duly elected President and functional government for the first time in their history. There are still terrorists and thugs to be dealt with, yet it is more like a normal weekend in South or East LA rather than an organized resistance. Why? The Afghans tasted freedom for the first time in their history and they like the flavor.

Iraq a country ruled by sadistic despots, terrorists and thugs who instilled the fear of torture or death in every citizen, now has a duly elected representative government. There are still problems with terrorists, yet a their days are numbered as they have worn out their welcome with the Iraqi people and are persona non gratis in Iraq. Why? The Iraqis tasted freedom for the first time in their history and they like the flavor.

Saudi Arabia’s’ House of Saud and the Religious Police who rule by the scimitar, have allowed the population to vote on something for the first time in their history. This may Bring Down the House, since the Saudis have tasted freedom and are hungry for more.

Egypt allowing more than one candidate in the next election is a totally unexpected turnaround. Where the government controls everything and just to voice opposition is dealt with swiftly. Egyptians will vote in the first free election (hopefully) in their history and taste freedom. Of course they will like the flavor.

Israel and Palestine talking of peace. Why? The Palestinians have seen what is happening above and want to try the taste of freedom.

Today the Middle East, tomorrow the World.

Blame it on Bush!!!

From his Inaugural Address:(emphasis mine)

Quote:
At this second gathering, our duties are defined not by the words I use, but by the history we have seen together. For a half century, America defended our own freedom by standing watch on distant borders. After the shipwreck of communism came years of relative quiet, years of repose, years of sabbatical - and then there came a day of fire.

We have seen our vulnerability - and we have seen its deepest source. For as long as whole regions of the world simmer in resentment and tyranny - prone to ideologies that feed hatred and excuse murder - violence will gather, and multiply in destructive power, and cross the most defended borders, and raise a mortal threat. There is only one force of history that can break the reign of hatred and resentment, and expose the pretensions of tyrants, and reward the hopes of the decent and tolerant, and that is the force of human freedom.

We are led, by events and common sense, to one conclusion: The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands. The best hope for peace in our world is the expansion of freedom in all the world.

America's vital interests and our deepest beliefs are now one. From the day of our Founding, we have proclaimed that every man and woman on this earth has rights, and dignity, and matchless value, because they bear the image of the Maker of Heaven and earth. Across the generations we have proclaimed the imperative of self-government, because no one is fit to be a master, and no one deserves to be a slave. Advancing these ideals is the mission that created our Nation. It is the honorable achievement of our fathers. Now it is the urgent requirement of our nation's security, and the calling of our time.

So it is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world.

This is not primarily the task of arms, though we will defend ourselves and our friends by force of arms when necessary. Freedom, by its nature, must be chosen, and defended by citizens, and sustained by the rule of law and the protection of minorities. And when the soul of a nation finally speaks, the institutions that arise may reflect customs and traditions very different from our own. America will not impose our own style of government on the unwilling. Our goal instead is to help others find their own voice, attain their own freedom, and make their own way.

The great objective of ending tyranny is the concentrated work of generations. The difficulty of the task is no excuse for avoiding it. America's influence is not unlimited, but fortunately for the oppressed, America's influence is considerable, and we will use it confidently in freedom's cause.

My most solemn duty is to protect this nation and its people against further attacks and emerging threats. Some have unwisely chosen to test America's resolve, and have found it firm.

We will persistently clarify the choice before every ruler and every nation: The moral choice between oppression, which is always wrong, and freedom, which is eternally right. America will not pretend that jailed dissidents prefer their chains, or that women welcome humiliation and servitude, or that any human being aspires to live at the mercy of bullies.

We will encourage reform in other governments by making clear that success in our relations will require the decent treatment of their own people. America's belief in human dignity will guide our policies, yet rights must be more than the grudging concessions of dictators; they are secured by free dissent and the participation of the governed. In the long run, there is no justice without freedom, and there can be no human rights without human liberty.

Some, I know, have questioned the global appeal of liberty - though this time in history, four decades defined by the swiftest advance of freedom ever seen, is an odd time for doubt. Americans, of all people, should never be surprised by the power of our ideals. Eventually, the call of freedom comes to every mind and every soul. We do not accept the existence of permanent tyranny because we do not accept the possibility of permanent slavery. Liberty will come to those who love it.

Today, America speaks anew to the peoples of the world:

All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know: the United States will not ignore your oppression, or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you.

Democratic reformers facing repression, prison, or exile can know: America sees you for who you are: the future leaders of your free country.

The rulers of outlaw regimes can know that we still believe as Abraham Lincoln did: "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves; and, under the rule of a just God, cannot long retain it."

The leaders of governments with long habits of control need to know: To serve your people you must learn to trust them. Start on this journey of progress and justice, and America will walk at your side.

WHO NEEDS THE MSM!!!

From Publius Pundit:

ISRAEL HAS TRANSCRIPT OF SYRIAN ORDERS FOR BOMBING
I just caught wind of this on the news. The Israeli government will shortly announce a transcript of orders delivered by the Syrian government to the terrorist group that carried out the attack in Tel Aviv. I haven’t been able to find an article on the net as of yet, but will post one as soon as I do.

My prediction: If anything, Monday is the day of the Lebanese revolution. If Israel attacks and destabilizes Syria for any amount of time during this, they will lose control of the situation there and Lebanon will go free. Who knows what Israel will do though. They could do less and not act… or they could do even more.

NOTE: This is the extremely irritating part about being a blogger: having to wait for the hard copy to become available. More on this story as it comes. This is a major development in conjunction with the Syria-Lebanon connection, and outside influence is what may make a major tilt in the balance there.

FINALLY: Now I know it was only a matter of minutes, but here is the story.

Israel will use intelligence information to prove Syria was behind suicide bombing Friday night’s suicide bombing in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz told the cabinet Sunday.

What the two called irrefutable evidence to this effect has been sent to the US and select European allies. The evidence, based on intelligence information, will be presented by IDF Intelligence chief Aharon Ze’evi Farkash in a briefing on Monday at the Foreign Ministry for ambassadors from European Union countries and the UN Security Council.

Sharon’s associates said the goal of releasing the information is to pressure the Syrians ahead of Tuesday’s summit on building the Palestinian Authority in London. Foreign Ministry officials said they hope the Security Council will condemn the attack and perhaps even censure Syria on Monday.

“We have intelligence information that the orders came from the Islamic Jihad in Syria,” a senior source close to Sharon said. “We know where the orders for the attack were issued, we know where they were sent, and we know Syrian intelligence was involved and provided logistical support.”

Mofaz told the cabinet that an Islamic Jihad cell in Jenin recruited the bomber from Tulkarm under orders from Damascus. Mofaz said that Israel had arrested Islamic Jihad operatives in Tulkarm, but both Mofaz and Sharon emphasized that the PA had taken no action yet against the group, even though Israel had given the PA names of wanted Islamic Jihad operatives.

“Although we know for a certainty that the orders came from Islamic Jihad elements in Syria, that fact is not enough to absolve the PA of its responsibility for the departure of the terrorist and of its obligation to act against his partners in the crime,” Sharon said.

And this!! Will United Arab Emirates be next domino????

ELECTION FEVER IN THE EMIRATES
Take a look at consultative council just advised:

DUBAI (AFP) - Academics and members of the appointed consultative council in the United Arab Emirates came out in favor of elections in the Persian Gulf state, arguing that it could not stay out of the regional trend toward elected bodies.

When millions of Arabs in Palestine, Iraq and Saudi Arabia have gone to the polls, the UAE cannot continue to lag behind, Professor Abdul Khaleq Abdullah of the UAE University told the English-language daily Khaleej Times.

“I strongly support the idea of having elected members” in the Federal National Council, said Khalifa Jumma al-Naboda, who sits on the 40-strong FNC, which is appointed by the rulers of the seven emirates making up the UAE.

Fellow member Mohammad bin Ali al-Nagbi told the same newspaper he would support elections as long as they were decided from within and were not imposed by external pressure. Atiq Daka, a professor of political science at the UAE University, told AFP: “Our country is now the only member of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) which has yet to catch up with the political opening up under way in the Arab world. Even countries we thought incapable of political change, such as Saudi Arabia, are now ahead of us.”

I think it’s a bit like Dave S. over at No Easy Answers said:

Holy crap! These guys are talking like it’s some sort of competition to be the best democracy and to be it before anybody else. Next thing you know, they’re gonna be a bunch of captialist Republicans over there!

Right on.

On Special Report with Brit Hume, Mara Liasson of NPR made the statement that she had never heard of any organized resistance in Iran or something to that effect. She obviously has not explored the subject or she could find thousands of groups working to overthrow the MOOOOLUUUSSS (Mullahs) and their oppressive regime in Iran. The following groups are located inside and outside of Iran and are just a small sampling:

www.sosiran.com/

www.bestofiran.com/

http://fa.nufdi.org/

http://www.rezapahlavi.org/

Mara is just another example of talking heads that think they know something without ever checking the facts. So now millions of viewers around the world who believe what this expert airhead says, are under the impression there is no organized resistance in Iran. God help us all.

Is this Dominoe Shaking?

North Korea Abruptly Delays Assembly Session

Mar 4, 4:48 AM (ET)
By Jack Kim

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has postponed a regular session of its parliament, the official news agency said on Friday, in an unprecedented move that puzzled officials and analysts who follow the reclusive communist state.

The presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) announced on Thursday it was postponing the third session of the 11th assembly, originally slated for next Wednesday, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said, with little elaboration.

Analysts said the timing of the postponement -- coming soon after the North declared it had nuclear weapons and later threatened to resume missile testing -- indicated an attempt by Pyongyang to maximize its bargaining power as regional powers work to coax it back for negotiations aimed at curbing its nuclear ambitions.

An assembly session might have proved a distraction that Pyongyang would want to avoid at this critical juncture, said Paik Hak-soon, head of North Korea studies at the Sejong Institute, a prominent national security think-tank based south of Seoul.

"The North has taken a big calculated risk of using the nuclear card, and it must be aware that, if the United States does not cooperate in this game, the repercussion would be tremendous," he said, adding: "Any kind of assessment would be speculative at this point."

KCNA said the decision had come "at the requests made by deputies to the SPA in all domains of the socialist construction."

The assembly is North Korea's top legislative body, essentially a rubber stamp to approve economic policy measures and personnel appointments.
A key South Korean government official who follows changes in the North said this was the first time that Pyongyang had postponed an SPA session after it had been publicly called, although previously sessions had been skipped altogether.

"It looks like they may be preparing for the release of something," he said, adding that the lack of a precedent made it difficult to assess the significance of the move.

The North declared explicitly for the first time on Feb. 10 that it now had nuclear weapons and announced its withdrawal from six-party talks aimed at ending its nuclear ambitions.

On Feb. 22, under heavy international pressure, leader Kim Jong-il was reported as telling an envoy from the North's main benefactor, China, that his country could return to the talks under the right conditions.

GUESSING AT THE INTENT

Postponement of the SPA meeting was probably not directly related to the state of Kim's hold on power, the official said, but it was likely to fuel the arguments of analysts and activists who believe Kim's grip has become tenuous.

"There is no indication to suggest political trouble or problems with Kim Jong-il's health or his position," another South Korean government official said.

In November, reports that Kim's portrait -- long a fixture in homes and public places in the North -- had been taken down in some places fueled speculation that his absolute control was slipping fast.

The reports have since been largely discredited, but some analysts continue to question the stability of his rule.

The spring assembly session is called to settle the previous year's budget spending and to approve a new budget. Major economic policy measures are also adopted, so as to show the outside world that its reforms are on the right track.

Noriyuki Suzuki, chief analyst at the Tokyo-based Radiopress news agency, said the postponement might be a sign that a decision on a major economic policy move was delayed.

"I think this is the most reasonable interpretation," he said. Radiopress specializes in monitoring events in the North.

The postponement announcement came two days after the North threatened to resume long-range missile testing and demanded that Washington apologize for calling it "an outpost of tyranny."

Among concessions sought by the North to end its nuclear weapons programs are security assurances, direct talks with the United States and massive economic assistance.

Three rounds of the six-way talks grouping North and South Korea, the United States, China, Japan and Russia have taken place since 2003, but little progress was made.

(Additional reporting by Yoo Choonsik in Seoul and Teruaki Ueno in Tokyo)

It may be too much to hope for that NK would fall as the next Dominoe as democracies emerge. If by some miracle it does happen, China will flip out you can be sure.
