I am furious!!!!!!!
Just watched Nightline because I saw a promo saying something about
Terri Schiavo, we'll talk with the man who has to decide.
I wondered "who's that'???
Well, it was a man who was appointed Guardian ad litem for Terri, back in 2003. Says he was tasked with reviewing her case and decide what was best for Terri, back when Terri's Law was passed in Florida Legislature.
Well he spent the whole time defending Michael Schiavo!!! How he really really loves Terri
and wants to do what she wanted!!!
When he was asked about Michael having another woman and two kids. this guy says Oh well we are
all capable of loving two people, dah de dah, de dah. WHAAAAT???
Said more or less that people who are protesting for Terri are coming
from the anti-abortion ranks (his tone seemed denigrating).
Stephanopolis played the audio tape of Terri and her father, this guy said
he spent time with Terri, and she would make these sounds all the time. She was not trying to communicate with her father!
He basicly pooh-poohed everything about Terri and promoted Michael as a good guy.
THIS IS TERRI'S GUARDIAN AD LITEM?????
Where am I???? Will someone wake me up from this bad dream!!! _________________ “I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.” (Thomas Paine, 1776) |

It is, indeed like a bad dream.
This is utter helplessness and frustration.
Terri's former guardian ad litum says that it's the anti-abortion crowd that's supporting Terri's parents. I don't know if that's true or not, but I'd say he's projecting. (The left is really good at that - whatever they accuse the right of doing, look for that to be their next move - we should know that from elections, hm?)
I don't think that the people I've seen have had a lot to say about abortion, one way or the other. We're furious about a lot of things - the suspicious circumstances of her initial injury, Michael's testimony when he sued for money to take care of her compared to his testimony when he sought to starve her to death, the fact that he is no longer "morally" married to Terri, the fact that she left no living will, the fact that "heroic measures" has been confused with basic nutrition and hydration.... I don't see the abortion issue coming into our anger and frustration.
But, I do know that at least the pro-"partial birth abortion" forces would lose one hell of a lot of moral ground if this woman suddenly became real enough and important enough in our society that we would save her life.
They would finally have something to genuinely fear if our society suddenly cared enough about this one abused woman to get us thinking and moving and acting.
Who has the most to lose in this argument? I don't think it's those who are focused on saving Terri Schiavo. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

How can her husband still be allowed to be her legal guardian and capable of these decisions when he has another family and has ignored his marriage vows? I am not a lawyer, but it seems that would be grounds to get him kicked out of this a long time ago.
Can't you just hear the conversations at his house?
Other woman: Honey, why are you fighting this so hard, don't you love me? Why don't you just divorce her and let her parents care for her. And we can get married!
Schiavo: But dear, then we'd have to give up the MONEY! Just be patient...it's almost over. |
