It was refreshing to hear what Prince Harry had to say about going to Iraq; despite his position as being third in line to the throne, he has asked to be sent with "his boys" and cannot stand the thought of "sitting on his arse" at home while they may be deployed. It sounds to me like Sandhurst took a somewhat aimless and bratty kid (remember the Nazi costume joke?) and made a man out of him. Queen Elizabeth II must be proud. |

Military training has a knack for doing that. I cite myself and my nephew, though we weren't brats(I don't think), it gave us focus on what was valuble in life. Harry has no doubt connected witrh regular people and they have become his mates. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69 |

This does seem admirable. I wonder, however, if the Palace will suspend the use of bodyguards to protect the prince while in Iraq. There will be plenty of British troops qualified to act as such but it will be interesting to see what the 'arrangement' will be.
I don't recall if anything special was put together when Andrew deployed as a helicopter pilot in the Falklands dust-up.

I think this reflects more on Diana than on the "Royals". She had enough time with him and William to instill a connection with us "commoners". _________________ "The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I’m here to help." Ronald Reagan |
