Has anyone else noticed how the speeches to rally illegal immigrants to the liberal party, are using the word "immigrant" in a way as to say the opposing view is anti immigrant? What is it about "illegal" they don't understand? |

The definition of the word itself.
Nothing is illegal except having conservative values.
That, of course, needs to be prosecuted beyond the full extent of the law. |

The media has adopted the term "undocumented immigrants" to replace "Illegals". I see it more and more in the headlines.
Purpose?? The "undocumented immigrant" moniker lends a little more legitimacy to the notion that they should be allowed to stay and promotes sympathy for these people as opposed to the more harsh "illegal alien" which denotes LAWBREAKER, CRIMINALITY!
We are just so mean and heartless to call them what they are!!! _________________ “I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.” (Thomas Paine, 1776) |

I see it in the future, since the Mexical "undocumented immigrants" are in effect given special status over other nationalities, there will be a equalizing bill so there is equal opportunity to get amnesty.

Rush Limbaugh is working a new title also (idea from a caller)--Illegal voter Immigrant or Illegal voter Amnesty, since this is mostly about pandering for illegal votes anyway. _________________ Peace is acheived through victory |

How unfair that Mexico has a common border with the US. There should be protests around the world that the Mexicans have an unfair advantage to access to the US and therefore the US should be providing transportation to any and all who desire to come. It is the right of every person in the world to come to the US and be provided with whatever they need or desire. It is the fault of the US that only two countries have common borders and therefore plans need to be started to build causeways across the Atlantic and Pacific. The road through Central America is also very unsatisfactory so a direct link from Florida to South America (through Cuba) must be built. |

To be fair, there is actually one group that does have advantages/preferences over the Mexicans in US law. With our current "feet wet/dry" policy for Cubans, all a Cuban has to do is to set foot on US soil to enjoy the equivalence of amnesty. How do we rationalize/justify that policy in the light of the current debate? So what do we do with the Cubans; send them back, too?
Years and years of lack of a coherent immigration policy has created a mess. Something has to be done, but I fear it's not as simple as so many people want to believe. |

checking in here from Mexizona....
jwb hit the nail on the head!
they don't believe in using the word 'illegal' unless you are a conservative / republican. Certainly not for their 'voters' ! Are their 'dead ' people voting 'illegal' ??? They don't THINK so.
using their 'terms'...then they should be saying Bush / Iraq war is /was just
'undocumented' ???? _________________ Stevie

If they don't care for the term "illegal", then how about "law-breakers" or "criminals"?
Is that plain enough? _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |
