Gary Larson (whose commentary we've noted here before) remarks on the veil of secrecy that has seemingly been imposed by the U.S. Navy in regards to both the issuance and revocation of Sanders' Silver Star...and which appears to suit most of the major media just fine, thank you very much...

And why the silence since last August? It goes unexplained. Perhaps some dogged news hound could file a Freedom of Information petition to find out?

We await news now from inquiring new media, not giving much hope to the mainstream, for further details on this enigmatic case. We are not holding our breath on this, I swear, but a few answers on this case would be truly enlightening.

That's simply untrue.
The "story" was (as we now know) in the "print edition" of the "Navy Times" (I don't know about the "Marine Corps Times" but one might reasonably assume it was published in their "print" edition as well) on or about 12 July but wasn't made available online (note "Posted" not "Published") until 27 Jul and after first being publicized here (on 12 Jul), Wintersoldier.com (on 25 Jul)...then by Thomas Lifson at "American Thinker" on 26 Jul which was then picked up by a slew of additional online media to include "Drudge"...which was likely the impetus behind the "Marine Corps Times" and the "Navy Times" electing to make the story available online.
Whether this apparent editorial election to suppress online distribution of this story was made at the "Navy Times" website level or higher up in the Gannet organization (who is the owner, not Military.com as I've recently learned) hasn't been yet addressed, nor do I expect it ever will be.
That AP reporter Julie Watson describes this story as being "first reported earlier this week by the Marine Corps Times" is testimony to the dominance of online media in this new age of communication whose nativity we personally witnessed in the evolution of the SVPT campaign in 2004.
If it's not "online", for all intents and purposes, it no longer exists.

Well, we know that they don't always have to lie outright in order to spoonfeed us their POV - and they usually don't lie outright.
This way, if anyone bothers to even call them on it, they can explain it away with poor syntax - they can say that they didn't intend to say that the story broke in the media in MCT earlier this week, but that MCT first published it earlier this week, as if MCT will further follow this story.
