In 2004, The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth scared the hell out of the corrupt media. The MSM was sure incumbent President George W. Bush would finally get the humiliation he deserved after the close election in 2000 because, in a time of war, Democrats had nominated Senator John F. Kerry, a "war hero."
Those best laid plans completely fell apart when a number of veterans, some of whom had served with Kerry in Vietnam, came out with a series of television ads attacking the credibility of Kerry's wartime claims, and most especially, the hagiography the media had written to back those claims up.
At first, Kerry and his media minions willfully ignored the Swift Boat Veterans, assuming they could wait them out. What happened, though, is that the story took off in the alternative media: Drudge, blogs, and Fox News. Finally, the media was forced to report on it, and the result was the whole episode blowing up in the media's face. Kerry's primary strength was undermined by the truth, and Bush went on to a second term.
The media was rattled to the core by this and quickly figured out what had happened. A narrative had grown on New Media, damaged their candidate, and by the time the corrupt media got around to attempting to destroy the credibility of the story and, quite reprehensibly, the men who told it, it was too late.

The Swifties gave the country a great example of what people can do against media bias. They shook the media and the Democrats to their core to the point they still mention them.
Remember the left back in the day always chanting "power to the people?"
We are the people and we have the power, if we exercise it.

That the MSM, fully aware, undertook a campaign of Swiftvet character assassination to "kill the messenger" and to suppress the truth about Kerry (which continues still today) is, IMHO, one of the most reprehensible demonstrations of journalistic malpractice in the history of American journalism.
John Kerry's perfidy, thanks to the Swiftees, will be (and already is) etched in historical stone by REAL historians...like Gerald Nicosia who, while in actuality a Kerry and VVAW supporter, still had the professional integrity to expose Kerry and his campaign's lies about Kerry's participation in the VVAW Kansas City "assassination" meeting.
That same media, today, is in an absolute dither about some Mitt Romney high school prank of 40+years ago. The MSM hypocrisy is staggering. |

A few tactics being used by the Left to shut down Conservative social sites have been successful at an alarming pace. They hack them and fill them with smut, they SPAM polls on the site to skew the results, and they complain to the host company (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) about "hate speech" or similar "unacceptable" content, mostly pro-family and Christian social sites, and get the accounts canceled for "violating the terms of use". These are orchestrated attacks, usually funded by George Soros and Unions and radical homosexual activists, with some of the funding coming from taxpayer money directed by Obama and Democrat cronies via various "Green Energy Projects" and other scams where government grants and contracts are handed out to their cronies and bundlers like candy.

The problem is that the vast majority of Conservatives don't join face book or twitter. These sites are usually too touchy-feely for the conservative mind.
