For anyone who has seen "Tales from a Parallel Universe" (the origin of the TV series "Lexx"). Kai is an unwilling minion of the Divine Order (the bad guys). Come to think of it, Kai is actually an animated decarbonized corpse and people have said that Kerry reminds them of Lurch, the butler from "The Addams Family." Maybe there is some mysterious significance to the fact that both "Kai" and "Kerry" start with the same letter.

Kai: I have killed mothers with their babies. I have killed great philosophers; proud young warriors and revolutionaries. I have killed the evil, the good, the intelligent, the weak...and the beautiful.

Kerry: I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages.
