According to a Kerry campaign source, senior campaign advisers tasked two Washington-based campaign staffers to vet the recently published Unfit for Command.

"The purpose was to compare what that book had with what we had on file from Senator Kerry," says the campaign source, who said that the research project developed more than 75 instances where Kerry's recollections, previous remarks, or writings conflicted with the book's reporting.

"We took some of the most glaring examples, like the Christmas in Cambodia story, and presented them to senior staff, and we assume that those things were put in front of Senator Kerry," says the source. "We haven't heard a word about it. All we were told is that it was being taken care of."

The campaign source said that the book was not considered a "serious" problem for the campaign, because, "the media wouldn't have the nerve to come at us with this kind of stuff," says the source. "The senior staff believes the media is committed to seeing us win this thing, and that the convention inoculated us from these kinds of stories. The senior guys really think we don't have a problem here."

Hugh Hewit is reading that right now on his radio show and he's really hitting hard on Kerry's story about taking a CIA agent into Cambodia.

I hope the little liberal/progressive/leftist campaign source p...k has to eat these words:

"The senior staff believes the media is committed to seeing us win this thing, and that the convention inoculated us from these kinds of stories. Taking a CIA agent into Cambodia?

Dear Lord! I think he's pulling a Ronald Reagan (whom I greatly admire, by the way) on us and confusing a movie he saw with real life.

I'm sure I don't have to explain the movie to SwiftVets, but for everyone else... In Apocalypse Now, a CIA agent (played by Martin Sheen) is sent to terminate the command of Colonel Kurtz (Brando) who's holed up with his crazed worshippers in a Cambodian temple. In an operation that "does not exist, nor will it ever exist" he's transported upriver by a Navy PBR and its crew. A PBR (Patrol Boat, River) is a small, fiberglass-hulled boat that's kind of a smaller version of a Swift Boat.

As the Colonel said on Brit's show earlier....had a boat the size of a swift boat been caught in Cambodia the uproar would have been heard world wide. I remember all the Cambodia flack from back then...who does he think he is trying to kid with this one???

Lets see now, I guess maybe a crew of our guys in Afghanistan can slip over into Pakistan in one of those new super tanks and see if they can't.....in a clandestine manner, root Osma out:)) POW POW POW
