Fred Barnes & Mort Kondracke - The Beltway Boys had a lively discussion this evening along with Bret Hume raising the issue that journalitsts have failed to properly investigate the charges against John Kerry made in the book Unfit for Command. Another opposing commentator said that John Kerry had just embellished his assertion that he was in Cambodia on Christmas day or evening. Fred Barnes suggested to the commentator that he read Unfit for Command as he done. This is one of few times that commentators like Fred Barnes along with Pat Buchannan have seriously taken the charges in the book and did not downplay the integrity of the authors or contributors.

I think that if the monentum picks up and the Democratic Party finds Kerry a liability they will attempt to replace him for someone like Hilliary Clinton - far fetched?? No it happended in NJ when Bob Torecelli was found lagging in the poles Torecelli dropped out to be replaced by Frank Lautenberg as a candidate even AFTER the filing date passed. The NJ law was overturned by the State Supreme Court so that Lautenberg could run ... so anything is possible... in NJ we have a Governor who has resigned effective November 15th but he may leave office earlier due to public pressure and pressure from his own party...
