I live in Spokane WA. Our only news paper ( the spokesman-review) does not have a single story about kerry or the swiftboat issue in it's monday 8-23-04 edition. They have been totaly underselling the story all along. However, after all the news over the weekend, I find it hard to believe that they would not print anything on this hot debate. The front page main story is on the CIA, a side story on najaf and a story about baby boomers having a hard time letting go of their children. In the letters to the editor section there also is nothing about this issue. We are a very concervative town, however our paper is run by NY times rejects or wanabes. If it was not for the internet and cable and radio we would not know about the swift vets at all. I was just wondering if other parts of the country have this same bias in their local papers. It would probably be better if we had a second paper for competition. You would not believe how many people I talk to that are not aware of this story --scary |

The editor might not be so cocky if you go talk to his biggest advertisers. You might find a sympathetic ear with one or more. _________________ "If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service." |

I got out of the habit of reading the print news years ago when I got
this new 'puter on my desk at work. I still have the same 'puter 8
years later. It still provides me with the news although the funnies
from the Huston Chronicle almost swamp me with popups by the time
I get to "The Phantom". _________________ Tin Can Sailor |

The Car Dealers and the Realtors are the ones who keep
news papers in the black, just call the local Realtors,
and the big car dealers and talk to the ad managers and
ask them if they like that response.
