The Boston Globe carried an article on 3/13/92 in which Senator Kerry defended Bill Clinton's efforts to avoid the draft. Now he calls George Bush "AWOL". In 1992, Kerry had this to say about Clinton: Quote: | As for Clinton's actions to avoid the draft, "the fact is that in 1969, when I gather it all took place . . . there was a lot of war yet to fight.
"I lost a lot of friends after 1969, and as I recall Americans were still being killed up to 1973," he said. "Bill Clinton's name went into the draft. If Bill Clinton's number had been 1 to 120 he was gone. People are forgetting that. I mean, the fact is he put his name in the draft.
"Damn it all, that was a tough time. A lot of people decided never to put their name in the draft. So it's unfair to say he was a draft-dodger," Kerry said. |
My goodness, Mr. Kerry, why can't you find the same graiousness when speaking of President Bush? _________________ antimedia
