I have not read everything Kerry, nor do I intend to, but a question came to mind.

Kerry requested and was granted separation from Service to run for political office. Nowhere in any of the time-lines do I see Kerry having attempted to run for congress after he was granted release.

How would the Mititary view this? Can you just make a request like that and then once granted, go do what ever you feel like???

That's a good question. When I was in any request to get out was lauged at barring family hardships

Kerry ran for Congress against Paul Cronin in 72. P151 "Unfit for Command"
