Oh you can count on a backlash, but it will be bunk to all except the most partisan of Kerry backers.
The problem for the MSM is that they had those documents for about six weeks (or so I read), and explicitly stated | Quote: | | "60 Minutes consulted a handwriting analyst and document expert who believes the material is authentic. " |
Now we only had the documents that CBS posted on its website, nothing else, and any fraud on our part would be easily revealed, since the source document is available to all.
The complete thread of deconstruction is available in several topics here, so the reasoning and analysis are also available to all. The logical progression is perfectly reasonable (CBS, the Boston Globe etc. should try it). I defy anyone to insinuate that there was some "secret knowledge" that we possessed other than a experience with both military documents and notations, and the fact that some of us acutally used typewriters in the period that this forgery was purportedly written.
CBS simply bullied this story through, without any vetting that I can perceive, and got caught with their pants down. Their credibility is totally wasted.
Don't you just love the fact that CBS will run stories with Castro, Hussein, every hack anti Bush author etc., but refuse to interview John O'Neill?

Oh, please.
This fraud was discovered concurrently and independently by several people and documented with time stamps in several blogs. Why is anyone surprised that a bunch of internet junkies and blogger geeks recognised word processing when they see it?
The MSM is basically clueless. They HAD the documents for SIX WEEKS and had EXPERTS look at them and VALIDATE them. I humbly suggest their "experts" are incompetent.
What, it should've taken LONGER than 10 hours to bust open this rotten melon? I don't THINK so.

What this experience has taught me about the other side is they have no shame and no shortage of gall. I read last night that they are looking to blame this on more Karl Rove dirty tricks! I put NOTHING past them.
