I just have to say this has been an amazing couple of weeks.
First - another deep bow of gratitude and appreciation for the Swifties and their families. To have suffered so long in obscurity. To be willing to put your names, your stories, your history...and your honor in front of the American people - in order to expose John Kerry for the (searching for an appropriate, non-profane word here...) lying scum that he is.
But more than that -
I served as a military intelligence officer after graduating from college in 1984 (I've been so eager to join the conversation, I've typed my sig incorrectly without thinking - I started in the AF in '85, not '88!).
I joined AFROTC in college 'cause I liked airplanes and the guys were cute! [What can I say...I always thought I'd marry a fighter pilot! I ended up with a (now former) cop - a career with a similar psych profile to fighter jocks. But I digress...] I didn't know what career to follow, and the AF seemed like it would give me some good experience.
I wasn't intimately familiar with military, but my dad had been in ROTC and was an Army Lt for 2 years - and my grandfather had been in the Signal Corps during WW1. As it turned out, I am eternally grateful for having been able to serve.
I remember in high school having a discussion with a friend considering entering the Army. I'm sad to say my part of the discussion included references to baby killing and violence. That was my belief at the time.
What goes around, comes around - and God does have a sense of humor (or maybe irony, eh?) I was proud to serve in the Air Force, but didn't know much about Vietnam, the attitudes of civilians about the military, etc.
I was a young pup, the Vietnam had been on the news all the time when I was younger, and I didn't really have any reason to disregard the popular impression of the war and the Vets.
Now I know differently.
Because of the Swifties, and the "NeoPopulists" here on this board, I now have a totally different view of the war, the Veterans and of course, John Kerry's role in blackening the reputations of so many fine men who gave their time - and their lives - for a cause that I now believe to have been a just one.
Not to sugarcoat what happened, or to make it seem neat, clean or antiseptic - but I now see how the liberal mindset distorted what was happening over there, and our motivations for being there.
The Vietnam anti-war protesters should also examine their consciences. Millions died in Southeast Asia after the fall of Vietnam, while they sat here in their middle-class lives full of jobs, families, warm houses and good food - smugly satisfied with what they'd done, with apparently little reflection on whether *their* cause was just.
And now, the cracking of the Killian forgeries. The "NeoPopulists" as I think I'll call us have used the power of the Internet to pry open windows into the monolith of the mainstream media.
And I was feeling a little sad thinking of after the election! It's been so fun to come here, read, learn, share, listen...and think. I was wondering what would happen to all of these voices, these experiences, this passion.
A whole new community is taking shape even as I type. No matter what form it takes, or how it unfolds - I will be forever grateful I heard the story of the Swifties, and became part of the conversation.

MJB-
Thanks - that was nice to read. I am sure the Swiftees appreciate it greatly.
Regarding the accomplishments here, good does prevail over evil, and with a steadfast strength unequaled by shallow evilness. |

Beautifully written words,
I would like to add the communist propoganda taken root everywhere we turn. It is in our mainstream culture and no longer the fringe groups. Next time you watch "Good Will Hunting" listen to Damon and Williams during one of their discussions speak of 2 books written by Naom Chomsky and Howard Zinn, two of the most radical communist propogandists of the 20th century and they speak of these two mens books as great intellectual works. I squarely place the blame for the deaths of millions of people on their heads and people like them who would mislead the ignorant mass to their way of thinking. All communist apologists of the last 100 years must be called out.
I really loved that movie until that scene. It made my skin crawl. _________________ "An activist is the person who cleans up the water, not the one claiming its dirty."

MJB and GenXr have nailed it. Propaganda must have gagged them, and they puked up the poison.
The people who have supported the Swiftvets are awake and care deeply about America, and about what has become of her. And it is the creeping crud of Communism that is to blame for the fact that we have come to the verge of electing John effin Kerry, of all people, to be our Pres. and CInC. And it would be a waste of a pool of great talent and good spirit if we decide we're satisfied just to see him go down. The passion, the love of country, the vision of America that our forefathers held and our ancestors bled and died for, is alive in us. But the enemy within America is as threatening as the enemy without.
There are thousands who have visited this site. Let's commit ourselves to stay awake and carry the battle beyond the enemy's fallen incompetent figurehead. Ask questions and demand information about who this man we almost elected is and what he wanted to achieve. Learn about the history of socialism--it goes back at least 100 years, as GenXr noted. Find out where it has its toeholds, its footholds, and its fortresses. Get involved in those few, undersupported groups who are already battling it. Make sure your children know what communism is. If they went to public school, they probably think it's a cool idea. Don't assume that it was destroyed when the Soviet Union collapsed. It was thriving here long before that, and it still is. This is the source of John Kerry's politics, and it is behind the media madness and the decline into depravity of the Democratic party. If it's wounded, show no mercy. Let's stay in the vanguard and be with those who will finish the job. _________________ It's downright brilliant the way he's reserving his devastating intellect to spring it on us at exactly the right moment. |
