It's time consuming but in light of how hot the subject is now I would think it won't be too long before the boycott hits the news (at least Fox) as well.

Are other boards also boycotting is or is this just here? I only read here, and can barely keep up, so I have very little idea whats going on in the rest of the blogosphere.

This is one thing I like about sites like this--an effort can be coordinated! Anyway, I e-mailed the sponsors that I buy from. I hope there is a legion of disgruntled customers and that these companies will take notice and be more responsible themselves--if that's not asking too much! I already e-mailed CBS (national).

It may not be practical, but how priceless would it be if the Swiftees could find a way advertising space during the CBS evening news. Imagine Rather's lead in being images of Kerry talking about how he threw his medals away. Priceless. Id make an extra donation for that.

Mr. Nardelli,
Advertising on CBS's 60 Minutes is a liability.
A liabilty HD can't afford.
Slander isn't acceptable to Americans.

I received a similar response from Home depot as I did from Kimberly Clarke. I am not giving this up..not in lieu of the fact that CBS is now in deep with their lack of journalistic intregity..no, I will not give this up.

Laura Ingraham on her show Friday, encouraged her listener's to call CBS, write CBS..let them know that we will not stand for this crap anymore. We are the viewer's..the American consumer..and hey, I buy alot of Kleenex..(well, not Kleenex anymore! Wink )..we can and will make a difference.

The dollar is what matters to CEO's..and rightfully so, that is their job, but they are going to see less and less if they continue to stand by and watch their advertising be boycotted due to the likes of Dan Rather-not.

Anyone else have any responses from advertiser's like I did?

Fantastic!!! I have read countless times that advertisers take this feedback very seriously and I plan to register my complaints thanks again for listing the email addresses so I can vent now!!! depending on results after I may boycott their products too even though I am a stockholder... I always thought Home Depot would be a friend to the veterans but will need to reconsider..great job to make our voices heard more... I think the political and corporate word never thought the veteran community could be mobilized as we have seen since John O'Neill's book, web site, etc.

Just finished sending my emails to the sponsors, noticed that often it is impossible to register your comments directly with the corporate management or board of directors, in fact they have set up a structure to assume they will hear from the lower ranks which may not always be the best to find out what is going on... I know this is a major problem with Home Depot have a problem you will get to your store manager but if it is systemic the corporate office will probably never know.

This was an education to just see first hand who advertises on this program I stopped watching it years ago due to its bias, time, and having other things to do in a busy weekend. Surprised to see some pharmaceutical companies advertising we should also remember these same companies rely on our veterans at VA medical centers around the country to become Uncompensated volunter subjects often at high risk.

From sending my emails to sponsors this morning I have received three replies, sponsors are concerned, one sponsor said that he has received a large number of inquiries, sponsors will continue to review inquiries - complaints. Measure of effectiveness will be if these sponsors NO longer advertise on 60 Minutes... in some past issues the sponsors didn't have to receive a large number of inquires when the senders were in the political correctness camp.

I had rushed off this complaint please feel free to edit, add, summarize any of this, but I think the gist is pretty much on point. Simply copy paste, sign and email.

CC:
FCC.gov <fccinfo@fcc.gov>,
CBS Broadcasting form submitted on site as listed as the contact, http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/home/main100.shtml
Your local CBS Station

To whom it may concern,

I feel CBS Broadcasting has intigated and allowed a "supposed news program" to be nationally broadcast as a completely deceptive news show as it appears as a carefully organized hoax in direct conjunction with a DNC attempt to publicize the identical accusations.

As such, this all contitudes false advertising and I offer the following explaination. I do resent what is a national news program that is by definition supposed to be providing journalism and investigative reporting, offering the spectacle Broadcast by CBS 60 minutes II Sept 5, 2004 and now the added defiant farse presented by Dan Rather on CBS News Friday sept 10, 2004. Phoenix Az station KPHO channel 5.

Mr. Rather in both presentations presented himself as a journalist, was deceitfully acting as an operative of the DNC presenting knowingly false statements. However it doesn't begin to explain the Network knowingly allowing the national broadcasting of his hoax.

It is obvious there is nothing honestly documenting the derogatory claims made by both broadcasts and to remain defiant and state "until proof other than what they reported was presented they would stand behind their hoax". That statement offers further evidence that this is a feeble disquise to effect a National election, by Broadcasting this hoax as news and then defiantly deny the public accusations of not being credilous with their broadcast to summarily dismiss them. Every individual which would have any information reliable enough (other than the deceased himself who CBS falsely claimed was the author) has claimed the documents and accusations not credible, false and misleading. Mr Barnes, a Democrat and J G Kerry supporter, was dismissed as lying in the past as he has stated he was involved and then wasn't involved in interveening for a then young Bush.

As a licensee CBS has an overiding duty, " to protect the public from false. misleading, or deceptive advertising" Licensee Responsibilty with respect to false. misleading, or deceptive advertising, 74 F.C.D. 2nd 623 (1961). Your station normally must take reasonable steps to satisfy itself "as to the reliability and reputation of every respective advertiser."

Dan Rather is a Democrat, Mr. Barnes is a Democrat. Both fund and support the DNC and Mr Barnes is a part of Sen. J G Kerry's campaign, at least one of these persons has admitted he was present and spoke at a Democratic Fundraiser in the county in Texas they or their family belong to. The claimed supporting documents have been proven beyond any reasonable doubt to be ill attempted forgeries. They have been linked to the DNC and J G Kerry's campaign.

Because the broadcasts were not a true "use" of CBS broadcast facilities "by a clearly identified candidate" CBS is responsible for the false and libelious charges made by these broadcasts.

As this hoax dealt with an attempt to discredit, harm, and present President Bush as anything but the honorable serviceman he was. CBS allowed Dan Rather to twice broadcast in an accusitory tone and defiant stance obviously false and highly suspect accusation with your show depicting nothing newsworthy, other than a complete set of highly questionable accusations, in direct opposition to what has been documented and thoroughly vetted in the 20-30 years past.

A DNC false advertisement in the guise of news. Is false and deceptive advertising.

Thank you for a swift investigation.

Thanks trish

let the flames begin....

Actually Smart Companies come out and passify their customers on either side of the aisle by making it public how they were unidated with calls, letters etc and if they state it right they can validate why they did or didn't pulled an ad. But generally they use the threat of boycotts for the free press they can get out of them. IE sponsors dropping Dr Laura like flies they quoted her worst comments hopefully "Dan Forges on" will take hits on this.

I just updated the above contact ( see previous post ) info for key executives of companies that had sponsored ad timed during that CBS 60 minutes travesty with the forged documents. Click on each links for profile. I had sent each of them a nonbelligerent email expressing my concerns about their company's decision to financially support CBS 60 minutes with adverstisement in light of all the recent forged documents controversy. Surprisingly, two people wrote back with brief "thank for your feedback/input" messages. I hope that people will write to them with their concerns, because the only way we can punish CBS for its blantant bias is through $$$$$. Otherwise, liberal media organizations will continue to do what they are doing now, with absolutely no regard for truth or fairness.
