On several occasions, I've read on this site and others that George Bush and 3 or 4 others from his unit volunteered to go to Vietnam. Does anyone know if this statement is true? and, if it's accurate, where can I find any documentation? Thanks.

This statement is TRUE. it was Killian's son, yes the "forgery" Killian, who said his father told him that Bush asked to volunteer, but his superiors said no.
Try googling the info I gave you above. I will try and find the article I read this morning for you and put the link up here. |

Doc - I believe what you are referring to came up during the interview of one of Bush's squadron mates on Hannity & Colmes.
If I recall correctly he said that two from the unit went. They were chosen because they had the most experience.
Confirmation may be a bit tough - it would be in the TANG records and you would have to cross-check the flight hours and such to really check. _________________ Why ask? Because it needs asking. |

One of Bush's squadron-mates has said several times that there were four of them who volunteered to go to Vietnam - the two with the most flight-hours were chosen to go and Bush wasn't one of them.
It's been discussed here several times and on another board, someone just gave me the name of the program a few days ago, but I can't find it, at the moment. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~
