58,000 men were killed in the Nam. 48,000 as a direct result of combat. The rest were REMF's, overdoses, killed while sleeping under trucks that drove off and stupid stuff.
At the peak of the Nam thing we had 500,000 troops there. Only 10% at any given time was in the bush, or in the field, or in harms direct way. One in ten men were in direct contact with enemy forces. So since one in ten of us were in actual combat, maybe one in 50 will make a post here. We came out of the closet about 5 years ago and don't mind talking about our experiences (to other combat vets) A very fine line, what to and not to say. Out of all the vets who saw combat, 1/3 are dead now. 1/3 are incarcerated and the balance of us carry around BS bad memories. Especially when kerry throws his ribbons(medals, whatever) over a fence. I paid my dues, I usually say whats on my mind. Oh, and the callousness I place on human life, to those who have not experienced it, one would never understand it. Life was pretty meaningless, until the F-4s dropped napalm. Get some! _________________ Bob Bruno |

That so many Vietnam vets are incarcerated is a myth. In fact, it's been proven that Vietnam vets were much less likely to get in trouble with the law than a sampling of males of the same age group who did not serve.
That myth began with VVAW and was perpetuated by the mainstream media.
I'm reading Stolen Valor, now - it's eye-opening and shameful - how easily and well we were manipulated into thinking that VV's were rabid, hair-triggered sociopaths and drug addicts.
We never even saw it coming and it's only now that we can see how it happened.
And we know enough now not to ever let it happen, again. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

I think I know where Rowe is, correct me if I am wrong ,but isn't it between the Pecos and Santa Fe? I was actually hoping I would never hear from her ever again. Just her name being mentioned conjures up a nauseating feeling in my gut! (Not to mention anger and payback) |
Nope... It's between Pecos and Las Vegas. I live off the Villanoava exit . Not to worry, I've given her enogh one finger salutes to make her gag. My American flag and Vietnam Vet sticker earns me plenty of one finger salutes when I'm in the "city of wierdos" (Santa Fe). @#$@% all them liberal freaks!!! _________________ ADC USN Ret.

Shooter, I know that area well. Well enough to know that only locals need to be up there. I am in ABQ and NOT a local. Santa Fe is wierd 90% very happy people
(PC) 10% gang bangers. Not sure which is worse.
So, I stay down here in ABQ. Am 100% also. I wish she had a sign pointing to her property. IT can be seen from I-25 no? Sorry I didn't see your reply earlier. I would have replied myself. Still love the sounds of F-4's screaming in at tree top level and smell of napalm. I know everything and everyone is being cooked down there. _________________ Bob Bruno |

Hey Bro, I'm NOT a local either. Only been here about 4 yrs. Sometimes it's a little rough being the only "albino" in the area...And one of the very few Republicans!!! I do some target practicing every so often just to remind the locals that they don't need to come here to steal anything. Nothin' like the sound of a 12 guage pump to discourage the low lifes. _________________ ADC USN Ret.

He has no excuse today for He and the DNC using his lines per vatim from the anti-V N era against Iraq.
They sicken me as through their teeth they claim support for the troops. Who's troops the French who stayed at home?
Sorry, I don't feel there is any excusing Kerry. regardless I never heard him state how sorry he felt for any victims ever. He claimed he and others were monsters. He never said he was sorry for that either.
Yet everyday you hear of young Guys and Gals recovering wounded who want to get back and help their fellow soldiers still there, in Iraq or Afghanistan.
I'd swear that guy has no soul, as a politician he is in the same league as Hillary, Bill, and Kennedy, no guilt for any of their actions that intentionally hurt others. |

uh, o.k. if you feel that strong about it. Kerry is out and Bush will continue what he started. A proven leader with no double talk, does what he says , says what he does.
Shooter, I know the feeling. White people don't normally live in that area. You really got to like MEXICAN food real well to live up there. By the way, how did you come to live up there? Just curious. _________________ Bob Bruno |
