Quote:
Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:

"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."

I'd imagine they spent the day trying to find a typewriter that would match the documents and when they couldn't they had to say something. The ego's of these people is just amazing to me. It struck me last night while watching BOR. He was having a discussion with a couple conservative radio hosts and he was genuinly upset about people getting unfiltered information through the internet. What really struck me about this is that he gave the impression that there was something wrong with us, which leads me to believe that he feels we're to stupid to makeup our own minds and need the msm to tell us what's true and what isn't. I think is an attitude that permeates the media in this country and in my opinion is nothing but a form of censorship.

CBS, the NY Times and others have just taken this form of reporting the next step and have decided that not only do we need to have information filtered so that nothing in their opinion that's false reaches the us but that the information that reaches us should fit into what in they're opinion is best for us.

Thank God for the internet.

Look none of this means anything. The so-called new information from the C"BS" hot story is they had "new proof" in these documents. The whole premiss of these forgeries are that Bush didn't show up for an "Ordered physical", therefore Bush is a criminal that is unfit for command. The documents are proven fraudulent, even by Ms Knox's own statements. That being the case, there is no story except for C"BS"s own debacle. They're not going to get saved by some old lady.

Is their Bias that strong that they will not admit even now the Documents are phonies? As it stands now ALL the other Networks are hammering them, their own "experts" are stating they raised major questions about the validity of the documents, even the Secratary has been discredited by some.
CBS ignored the Killians before they aired and ignore them now as well. Anyone who has stated something to the cotrary to the CBS/Rather Bias has conveniently been forgotten as they cling to their sinking ship.
Only going to be worse for them as time goes on, they keep pushing this, they will absolutely crash and burn as a Network.

The Balloon Artist,

That's great, and probably more true than anything SeeBS has said - and the reason Rather didn't question the source.

Also, you'd think they would have spell check, but maybe they typed it on that Olympia(c) typewriter of Knox's that they've been trying all day to type those memos out on. Rolling Eyes

Actually, what probably has the CBS people scampering around is their new found fear of losing valuable broadcasting licenses to say nothing of both criminal and civil liability. If they admit to the obvious truth they cannot protect their "sources" and will have to disclose even more unpleasant facts. Don't you love it!!! They may have to put a laugh tape into their news broadcasts!!

39 republican congressman/woman signed letter to cbs president....
they wanna know who, when, where, how etc...

saw JD Hayworth R-AZ on tv in front of congress (or somewhere like that) pointing and shouting 'we want to know what he (rather) knows and how long he has known it!'

you go JD!

It is a pathetic display, but it worked in one sense: I actually watched Rather's "news" show for the first time in many years.

Naturally, they opened with the hurricane story, and even more naturally, I checked other stations to make sure that was true.......

In fact, there's a much longer statement on the CBS News website, though I must say they didn't place it prominently--See this:

http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/cbsstatement.pdf

Three pages that boil down to "We're not tellin' who our source is and you can't make us"--

I may puke--C

CBS cannot tell who their source is because to do so might subject them to election fraud charges, if the source is connected to the DNC or the Kerry campaign. This would doom the Kerry campaign and help Bush. IMHO, the DNC, the Kerry campaign and CBS are in collusion in this fraud because if CBS knew they had been defrauded, they should be furious and demand answers - but instead they will not admit the memos are fake and direct their anger to the blogs instead of the source who defrauded them - obvious to me, CBS is a willing part of this fraud, and can never reveal their source.

I hear the dems have a commercial out already using Rather's show on this issue? Fast, even for them, huh... could be they already knew all the facts ahead of time and just needed to plug in the pics? Just wondering...

Anyway, the dems are very happy to keep this stupid thing going -- stretch this thing out as far as you can in every direction -- anything, ANYTHING to take the news away from the Swiftees and Kerry's record of fraud/treason. This "news" is absolutely nothing -- but it seems to me that it has worked to fixate everyone on memogate. [I'm still steamed that the protest rally wasn't covered anywhere -- not even on Hannity! (?)]

My frustration is that I want to TAKE THE NEWS BACK-- I want everyone talking & arguing about Kerry's treason.... Twisted Evil
