Ratherbiased.com reported:

Quote:
Rather's Nielsen tumble, most of which has come among loyal viewers offended by Memogate, has been enough of a concern to network officials that CBS made up an advertisement which it began running on Wednesday's Evening News boasting of the broadcast's fairness.

"Some people talk about fairness and balance. Other people talk about covering the issues. But it's just talk. CBS News is actually doing something about it," the ad says.

Here is a link to the ad:

http://216.180.225.12/fairness.wmv

Obviously the "fairness and balance" line is a direct shot at Fox News. In the current context, the ad is laughable. The ad says, "CBS News is actually doing something about it". Yeah, like what? GOING ON THE AIR WITH FORGED DOCUMENTS?

But it is actually worse. If you view the ad, there is a spot where it shows a placard for a pro-life protester (I am fair and balanced, so I show people on both sides of that issue respect by using the terms pro-life and pro-choice rather than the CBS/MSM approach of saying "anti-abortion" and "pro-choice") which is not exactly a positive image for the pro-life side.

When you make a defense or an attack in the public debate, it has to be one that is not so absurd that no one will believe it. CBS bragging about their news division's commitment to "fairness and balance" simply isn't. It is funny. This ad just piles onto the credibility problem CBS already has.

Should you have to make an absurd defense or attack, you better bring some serious evidence.

We have plenty of people on our side who are guilty of the same kind of outrageous and unbelievable statements that are not backed up by any evidence (such as the whole Kerry the commie spy/manchurian candidate/Satan worshiper thing).

In addition to providing a good laugh, this CBS ad also provides a good lesson.

Wait a minute. Are saying that yellow-bellied Kerry isn't a commie spy/manchurian candidate/Satan worshiper thing? Can you tell me, then, how it is that he can tell that "Unfit to Command" is a pack of lies without reading it? Surly he has some spy-manchi-worship connection in order to devine this great truth. Oh, I forgot. It's because all those right-wing people are buying it by the case.

Yuk Yuk Yuk

Kerry’s view on the main-stream media: A viable resource when formulating national policy.

"With all due respect to the president, has he turned on the evening news lately? Does he read the newspapers?" Kerry said. "Does he really know what's happening? Is he talking about the same war that the rest of us are talking about?"

CBS is the laughing stock of the USA.

"Fairness & Balance"? Give me a break...4 years they have been looking into Bush's TANG service. How long have they looked into Kerry's service? When were the Swifties on? When did CBS analyze anything that might be negative for John Kerry?

It looks like CBS thinks that if they yell real loud that they are really, really fair,.... no honest,.... I'm not kidding now, and balanced,.... seriously, ....stop laughing OK?, that somehow it will make the fraud that they just broadcast go away.

They must be talking themselves, trying to convince themselves that they are a real news organization. No one else is buying it. Until they actually start doing real news and journalism, instead of just telling everyone it's so, they will be as Leno said last night "CBS stands for **** and Bull Station"!

That ad is straight out of Baghdad Bob's playbook.

So that ad is fake, right? Surely that isn't really airing on CBS?

No. It really is running on CBS.

As to Baghdad Bob's current where abouts, he is currently food for worms.

dcornutt,

the pic is hysterical... wait, that's me that's hysterical...from seeing the picture!

tell me Bagdad Bob isn't worm food.... I thought he was working for the Kerry campaign ! well, maybe he is.... a kerry snack....

hey, I swear I heard Kerry say "when I become president, I will tell you the truth...' in one of his speeches...

WHAT A LIE !

Why would we believe that? He hasn't had any practice in it....

he wouldn't know the truth if it bit him...

Do you think Bagdad Bob learned all he knew from Kerry?

These days, CBS is merely a photocopy of its old self.
