"They Marched into Sunlight" "War and peace-Vietnam and America-October 1967" by David Maraniss.
Not strictly political, but I find it to be enlightening/fascinating/traumatic. Three quarters thru it and at times I can ~smell~ the air in-country again. Weird.
...and a one-sitting read: "Maverick" by Dennis Marvicsin. Laugh/cry/scream kinda story. He was a Slick/Cobra pilot (three tours).
