Kerry's fetish with leftism and internationalism was what I saw in this debate. He repeatedly droned on about "making friends" and "building coalitions" with unspecified foreign governments.

It is this internationalism and naivete about how the world works (especially about that large part of the U.N. consisting of dictators and despots) that makes Kerry particularly dangerous.

Not to mention his 1971 treason.

I love W but I think Kerry won this debate. Sorry to say that but it's my honest opinion.

GWB had some good responses but Kerry did not hurt himself and looked "presidential".

Too bad, I was hoping for an obviois flub but the average voter who pays no attention to his newly invented opinion will problably give the nod to the flipper on this one.

But if you look at the what Kerry said such as praising Reagan's policy when in truth he was against every policy Reagan ever had. If Bush would straight out lie like Krry did tonight there would be a 17 page New York Times artlce pointing out each lie or each impossible thing he said. Kerry talked about inspecting all cargo containors. When in fact millions of cargo containors can't all be inspected . And he also voted against the funding of the body armour.

Did I hear Kerry state that WMD was coming across the borders, when referring to the insurgency in Iraq?

Especially after France and Germany have already said that they're not going to Iraq even for Monsieur Kerrie'

It makes me sick to my stomach to say it but I also think Kerry won the debate. And it pisses me off. There were several points that Bush had the oportunity to slam Kerry on and when they came up he passed on them.

I'm really bummed. I already know what the opinions of most of us that frequent this site are, but I'm worried about the ones that rarely pay much attention to politics until the debates start. I think for them Kerry looked alot better, and Bill Clinton proved that's all you really need to win 8 years in the White House.

Having thought about it a while, and having soaked up some of the reaction (spin), I've concluded that Kerry probably won on style, but Bush won on substance.

I'll take substance over style every time. Hope the American people agree. Cool

Those who post here know the nuances and truth about Kerry. The average debate watcher is another story.

They like to vote on such things as looking good. Bush is a physically smaller man and the camera was not as kind to him tonight. He made some faces that reminded me of his father's debate (when he lookd at his watch). Kerry didn't have as many reaction shots (or maybe he did but they were not noticiable).

I have my liberal friends emailing me now with glee. Yuck. At least the Yankees won!. I still think Kerry is a phony, but will the fence sitters see it that way?

I am feeling sick to my stomach, MSM is gonna hound us with this one. Now the remaining debates will be on mainly domestic issues and Kerry will drown us with details.

I have to admit that Kerry had style. But Bush had grace, and above all, he communicated his message CONSISTENTLY, AS HE ALWAYS HAS. Did you notice that Bush had to correct him on Iran (re: sanctions), correct him on N. Korea, and correct him on the # of allies we had going into Iraq?

All in all I would say that no one got a KO, it was a tie. dangit.

I just saw a great PFA (Progress for America Voter Fund ad on Fox for Bush for the first time. Gets to the point about the war on terror.

Every channel is pretty much saying that Kerry won the debate and unfortunately I have to agree. I think Bush just quandered most of the lead the Swift Boat Vets gave to him because he would not properly rebut what Kerry was saying. It is going to be a diffcult to go to sleep tonight.

Who cares if Kerry was more polished or is a better speaker. Ever heard what was said about Hitler. He was such a charismatic speaker that he could drone on for 3 or 4 hours at a time and people would be transfixed.
I think the American people are smart enough to see an internationalist and appeaser even if he is a good speaker.

This is the difference between Chamberlain and Churchill.

I personally think Kerry nailed the coffin shut on himself tonight. Really.
He laid out clearly for the whole world to see that he is a leftist liberal who wants to appease the other countries of the world and is more worried about what they think of us than in keeping America safe. He showed his true colors tonight....and they are red and yellow.
