It's very late, 3am, and I have just finished watching the debate. I thought that Bush did an awesome job. To me he seems to take and keep on the offense, while Kerry seemed for the most part, having to defend his positions, when he could;)
Can someone please explain to me how the polls work in laymans terms. These after-debate polls seem to affect the outcome of determining the winner. I have always assume that calls are made TO viewers, but I have seen e-mails from the DNC encouraging Kerry supporters to flood the media with phone calls and e-mails. While that would seem to make the polls illegitimate, the polls are still reported? I guess I'm confused. How is it fair? Anyone who can give an easy explanation, thanks!

I thought something sounded funny there -- I could swear that he didn't even mention the Constitution -- only that his judge would "follow the law." |

that was my initial choice ...WHEW!
I just settled on $25 for ALL the fist/thumb point-jabs -- and $25 for ALL the times he stuck his tongue out (drives me absolutely nuts - Edwards does it even worse...what is that? ) |

Looking at that tax return, the name of the business was "The Lone Star Trust" and their principle business or service is "Oil & Gas Production". It is on page 5 of 9 in the tax return PDF. Sure doesnt look like a "timber" company to me! I think the Kerry Campaign got this information from factcheck.org prior (the article on fact check.org was from a while ago) and Kerry was coached to use this. |
I looked at the return, thanks for linking it. This is pretty misleading. When the Republicans talk about the 900,000 businesses affected by Kerry's proposed tax increase, they are talking about Sub S, LLCs, Partnerships, and LLPs which flow through to the return and is taxed even if the money is never taken out of the business. They aren't necessarily talking about Schedule Cs. The $84 is on a Schedule C, not a K-1 which the corporations and partnerships they are talking about flow through.
Because the supporting schedules referred to on the Schedule C aren't included, you can't really see what this is about. It probably is a small quirky thing. Here's an example of a schedule C (which Lynne Cheney's money Factcheck.org mentions is filed on.) If I get paid once a year to time a swimmeet for $300 and I have expenses of $25 associated with that task, I have $275 in my pocket, I file a Schedule C and am taxed at my ordinary rate for that. Some people run businesses out of a Schedule C, but they are fewer and fewer.
The President does show income from a partnership and a Sub S. The Partnership is also named Lone Star Trust and it earned $84,797, but that money never left the partnership but he was taxed at the ordinary rate on it. The Sub S (GWB Rangers Corp) earned $9,928 also never leaving the Partnership but taxed.
So Mr. Kerry must think he has insight as to what is in this trust but he was off base in how he used it. But what is new?
Update:
I've now read this is from a royalty which makes sense. Also NOTICE, this is the 2001 tax return. Its not on the 2002 and 2003 returns.

Since the donks have the bots going to place votes to wack out online polls, it's been suggested that we don't vote in order to make the results look absurd and skewed, like 98-2.
Better yet, vote for Blow Dry and make it 100-0.
Terry Macaulaff is probably behind that stupid stuff. He's such a spinning tool. |

put me in for $10.00 - for bad Kerry hair! did he have to lower himself to a regular hair cutting place? I think it looks just terrible tonight! for as much as it is reported that he pays..... Arnold pays $400.00 per haircut... I don't think I could pay that much no matter how rich I was.... _________________ Stevie

Not sure if I caught this correctly, but if you can, re-watch the prescription drug question. Listen when Kerry says this:
Quote: | Four years ago, right here in this forum, he was asked the same question: Can't people be able to import drugs from Canada? You know what he said? "I think that makes sense. I think that's a good idea" — four years ago. |
When he quotes Bush and says "I think that's a good idea" listen closely. Is he mocking Bush's accent? Kerry says 'idear' not idea.
And damn him for ignoring the lives of Iraqi soldiers in order to pad his 90% figure yet again. _________________ Melissa |

I watched the debate on Fox and then watched Hannity and Colmes.
It was interesting to note that Colmes didn't try to do his usual little dance with Karl Rove. He just sort of chatted it up.
He knew damn well that if he attempted his typical parsing bs with Rove, that Karl would have verbally biatch slapped him off his stool.
Colmes and Estrich -- a genetic nightmare. |

That's a Boston and New York thing. He probably stood in Swiss Finishing school with books on his head, walking tight assed upright and practicing proper pronunciation, but once in awhile the old ways slip through.
Boston and New Yorkers tend to add an hard "r" to the end of words ending in vowels.

Hi everybody,
In continuing with my newly-established practice of NOT watching the Presidential debates, I am pleased to report that my sanity remains in tact and I am as optimistic as ever that Bush will defeat the traitor in November. Instead of watching the debates on TV, I have been following the events realtime with an online thread on lucianne.com. Not only does this spare me the unpleasant task of having to listen to Kerry's insufferable lies, I also avoid the occasional cringe I used to have whenever the President badly mangles the English language. So, I am a happy man. To balance things out, I read a number of different blogs, with different political leanings, which analyze each of the debates. I take it, from all the blogs I have read and the few TV clips I have seen, that the President performed a lot better this time around than in the first debate. I am happy to hear that. I am especially pleased to read that the President was unexpectantly strong in his handling of domestic issues, which will be the topic of the next debates. So, as I told you in my last post about the debates, the President is still going strong. Inspite of all the MSM PsyOps and democrat propaganda, the American people will make the right choice on election day. _________________ Retired Marine

I will have to get the transcripts but will not be good as the real thing from what you guys say. |
You can watch it online on CNN and C-Span and many other sites. |

I went to Fox and viewed the streaming vid to watch the debate (sound was really strange... oh well)...
Here in Japan, the ONLY things they showed on the debate were of Kerry saying he could do so and so better than the Pres... and then it changed to when Bush interupted the host to make his point... was disappointed in the news, but not suprised... considering where they get their news from... |

The usual follow-up to these debates include the polls. They are divided up, and annouced in real time immediately after the event.
A "Snap Poll" is usually the poll that's spread throughout the "spin" room of the debate, and when we are bambarded with Liberal debate halls, Liberal moderators, & mostly Liberal media, the outcome of these polls are easy to read (before they're posted). It usually takes a few days to evaluate the real facts about any debate, and discuss it (good & bad points).
As mentioned in someone's earlier post, the DNC worked hard in getting the supporters to "Flood" the internet & media polling to load up the onesided results. You'll notice that just as the last time Bush & Kerry debated, it was a real slam-dunk for the Kerry team immediately after the debate, but after a few days of taking a real hard look at the responses (substance) from Bush, the poll numbers (debate polls) started to even out a little, but in reality, Kerry did come away with a better overall reading. Let's be honest, Bush wasn't completly on his game that time, but last night was a totally different story (at least in my view).
I don't want to make a book out of this, but I do feel the need to bring up one point that has been overlooked in the debates, along with all the main stream media reporting.
Domestic Issue.........Jobs:
You'll keep hearing both sides boaster about how many jobs were lost, or gained in the past 4 years, but you'll rarely hear the TRUTH about these numbers.
Let's make it simple here:
Imagine I started a business five (5) years ago, employing thousands of workers, and that business grew overwhelming as to bring about addtional work places & many, many more employee's, spread throughout several states.
Now let's imagine that four (4) years ago (Just after I was elected President), that this "business" I was running turned out to be a scam, and all of a sudden, I was shut down. That means that ALL those employee's are now out of a JOB, and any effort to repalce those jobs (that shouldn't have been there to start with) with legitiment employment, is a MAJOR TASK, regardless of who's in command.
Has anyone forgot the "Dot.com" error, that took wall street for a ride. with a few making multible millions of dollars, but after being figured out, they were (for the most part) shut down, and wall street, millions of investors, & employee's lost out BIG-TIME!
In addition, ther was the all popular "Y2K" theroy that went around, scaring the entire world (everything was going to crash when the year 2000 rolled over). EVEN the Petagon fell for this joke, and hired hundreds of empoyee's to FIX this major set back we were going to be hit with.
Well folks, it never happend, and along with the "dot.com" scandles, there were millions of jobs & money lost just in these two (2) instances.
We need to pay attention to the markets & employment here, but we also need to be alert in these political "talking points" by being educated about the real facts & not the spin. The Bush administration is adding JOBS every month, just not the "fake" ones!
The economy is doing very well right now, and will continue to get stronger under the Bush tax cuts, but most importantly we need to keep our focus on the War On Terror & the firm leader we have been blessed to have over the last 3 1/2 years.
I'm not very good at writting or making my points "stand out", but I really hope everyone understands what I'm trying to get across here.
Have a great day,
Wind Walker |
