Medal of Honor recipient, POW in the Hanoi Hilton for over six years, Col George "Bud" Day, USAF, Ret is in support of Gathering of Eagles. Col Day sends us the following message:

Quote:

I support the G O E 100%. I believe it is an idea whose time has come, and which offers a splendid opportunity for the silent majority of Vietnam Vets to speak their piece concerning those who have denigrated our service, and blackened our names.

It is clear that those same anti-war activists that put the South Vietnamese into a state of defeat, prison, torture, and separation from their families are attempting to once again launch the United States into a defeat in the Middle East.

It is incumbent on every red blooded American to vigorously protest this "cut and run" strategy, and further besmirchment of the good name of the American warriors.

Stand fast for freedom, for victory, and for the future of the world. Unquote.

I'll be attending with a Marine from Mansfield, OH. We contacted each other on the GOE site.
I ask for your prayers for all GOE attendees safety and God's intervention for good weather. Those of us from the Midwest states will be passing threw the PA mountains at night.
LOL Once again the Navy giving a Marine a ride into a Hotspot. LOLOL

I had a kid living in Winchester, Va for a while. I've made the trip from Peoria to Winchester three times in the last couple of years. The first time was a scary trip through PA on I-70. I certainly wouldn't want to do that at night. The best way is after going through Wheeling WV, hang a right off of I-70 onto I-79 at Washington, PA and drop down to Morgantown, WV where you pick up I-68 through WV and MD. You pick up I-70 again west of Hagerstown, MD and follow that to Frederick, MD where you hang another right on I-270 which drops you into Washington DC. Sounds rather involved, but the road as a LOT better and you have towns where you can actually pull into for services. That toll road in PA is the pits.

The last time back, I dropped down I-65 from Indianapolis, IN to Louisville, KY then I-64 through KY to Charleston, WV. then up I-79 to Morgantown, WV and I-68 the rest of the way. It's the long way around to avoid I-70 through OH, but the road is really good especially in WV. I went through WV on a beautiful April Sunday morning with cruise control on 70 MPH and a great country gospel station on the radio. Bobby Byrd has managed to steal enough highway funds to build a really good hunk of road there. Not a mile of straight, level road in the state, but it's really nice.

I'll be going to KY more often now. #2 kid and her infantryman husband checked into the Army Hotel at Ft Campbell last night. Starts his tour with the 101st this morning.

Very Happy

AMOS, go to the Pay Pal Site and register an account with Pay Pal. Then if you want to contribute to A Gathering Of Eagles you would go to their Site and click on paying using Pay Pal. When you put your E-mail address in that you used to register at Pay Pal that automatically conects to your account at Pay Pal. Once you have a Pay Pal account set up it is the fastest and easiest way to send money to any Site that permits Pay Pal Payments.

Yep, been using Paypal for years. It's no-brainer when buying and/or selling on ebay. BTW, they're now paying over 5% on deposits.

We need hundreds of calls and faxes to C-Span urging them, politely, to cover the Gathering of Eagles event at Constitution Gardens on Saturday, 17 March……urge them gently, but firmly by calling C-SPAN TELEPHONE NUMBER

Main Number: (202) 737-3220
