Wow, did you other Veterans know that the Kerry Kampers could be as foul-mouthed as this?

If you lean in real close, you can smell the stench of Kerry Kamp desperation.

How else to explain the filth being generated by the Kerry Kampers?

I love the way you completely ignore the FACTS! Without context, 947,000 jobs means NOTHING!!! I provided context. You people are unbelievable!!!

LIARS! LIARS! LIARS!!!

Did I call you names kyleparr. I have tried to treat you with respect and have a decent discussion or debate, and you call me a liar? I may be many things, but I am no liar sir!

I presented facts, you chose to spin them. Good news is good news, unless you are an idiot... you are not a liar, because that would require an understanding of a situation to the degree where you could actually synthesize the data and comprehend what it is you are trying to distort. Since you clearly have the intelligence of a flea and are not fully utilizing even that capability, there is no longer any point in discussing any topic with you.

If ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest person on Earth.

Good day sir!

Ahhh, if only you could see yourself....

Since you asked so nicely:
http://www.dol.gov/opa/media/press/opa/OPA20041020.htm

I'm sorry, but you'll need a calculator to check my numbers since I may be lying about the addition, but here's the numbers:

Quote:
May’s increase of 248,000
April for a revised total increase of 346,000
March for a revised total increase of 353,000

That would = 947,000 in the last 3 months. But, please check my math. Hugs and kisses Razz

Hey Keith. Now, go back to my original post and see if my numbers were not 900,000. they were revised to 947.000 later. Feel free to plug them in again and we are still 1.7 million jobs behind where we were.

You sound like the big winner at the casino that lost 500 the first day but got 200 back on the second and leaves feeling like he took the casino.

The data from May is not that different.. Add another 200,000 job to your calculations for fun. Hell add 500,000 back. You still have HALF of the jobs that were lost.

You are the one manipulating the figures, not I.

From the site provided by Kyleparr, it says at the very top:

[THIS TESTIMONY WAS GIVEN BEFORE THE U.S. SENATE DEMOCRATIC POLICY COMMITTEE HEARING ON JUNE 6, 2003.]

Pretty selective reading list you've got there.

kyle.. I was responding to saint, not you. saint said the number wasn't 900,000.. that's all. and then called us a bunch of name and asked us to provide evidence of the 900,000.

My response to you was on a totally different aspect of the post. And no, I'm not manipulating figures. If you want to talk about jobs lost vs created, there are other indicators that can be used to counter the widely quoted figures because the indicator that has been typically reported by the press significantly under-reports self-employed numbers. However, the original point of the this thread was that there has been exceptional job creation this year. If you want to look at that in context of the last 4 years and ignore all of the contributing factors to the job losses since 2000, that's your choice.

There are indeed many contributing factors to why the job market was so good just prior to 2000 and why things went bad shortly after 2000. To name a few:

The dot.com's were created jobs at an artificially high rate based purely on speculation in the late 1990's.. that bubble would have burst regardless of who was president.

The five years leading up to 2000 brought a surge of jobs into the market to address the Y2K problem... but these were effectively temporary positions that were no longer needed after 2000. In addition, there was a side effect (which I have unfortunately witnessed first hand). Companies that were desperate to fill IT positions leading up to 2000 were forced to look overseas. There had been a hesitancy to do this in the 80's and early 90's. Now that this was a proven solution because of the Y2K situation, sompanies began to feel more comfortable going overseas for cheap IT labor.

The most significant hit to the job market can be seen just by looking at the charts. Right after 9/11, there was an unemployment spike. That was devestaing to our economy, but the tax cuts and stinulus packages Congress and President Bush passed helped to pull us out.

Also, and this will sound political, but it really isn't because I do not believe recessions can be blamed solely on a president, the recession started in the last year of the Clinton administration and would likely have ended in 2001 or early 2002 if not for the 9/11 attack.

I know this is an indepth and wordy analysis, but employment/unemployment is much more complicated than "Bush sucks". That works for politicians trying to fool the people to get power, but we have an obligation to see through the smoke screen with simple answers and someone to blame for our problems and understand the real reason for recessions, shifting of employment oportunities, inflation and interest rates.

Just one more point that is only somewhat related, the tight monetary policy and increasing interest rates that the Fed used to cool down the stock market in the late 90's may have gone too far and help to cause the recession.. not Clinton's fault... the Fed folks act independently.

OK.. now here's where you say.. "you suck Keith"... thereby completing our discussion with each of us showing our knowledge of the situation Laughing

I hope people read it. It is not as rosey as one would paint it and the article you posted also reflects that Keith.

Nothing is ever as rosey as some would like to think, nor bad as others would have you believe...

I seek what is as close to the truth as possible, determine if it supports or impedes my goals and values, then decide accordingly.

What I posted seemed to me to be somewhat balanced.. my opinion is that what you posted was an opinion piece who's writers have an agenda they are pushing. Those I discount outright.

But, that's just me and I'm beginning to think I'm in a very small minority.
