2. Clarify the conflicting accounts involving the Bay Hap River incident of March 13, 1969 (Bronze Star and 3rd Purple Heart). You have now described three different versions of this incident. In the first version of this incident presented during the Democrat National Convention, you stated: "No man left behind," suggesting to the American people that you alone stayed on the river to rescue Mr. Rassmann. Later, when forced to acknowledge conflicting eyewitness testimony from fellow swift boat veterans, you said that your boat left the scene to return moments later to retrieve Jim Rassmann from the water. Yet, in another version of the same incident discovered in the Congressional Record, you reported that your boat struck a mine and Rassmann fell off the boat. Mr. Kerry, please explain to your fellow veterans and the American people which version is the truth.

Anyone else notice the this trick question for Kerry?
NONE of his versions are the truth!!! Mr. Green

Hello all, this is my first post. I have been content to just lurk for many weeks, but I sense some disturbing feelings in this thread. As such I had to join the fray.

I get the impression that some posters feel that the founders are giving up due to the open letter they sent to traitor Kerry. I see something quite opposite.

The timing and wording of the letter will be studied in political science classes for decades to come for its damning affect on Kerry's options.
The traitor can not stand on his military service in his speech tomorrow. The traitor can not stand on his activities after his military service in his speech tomorrow.
So his campaign has already stated that he will make issue of his political achievments in support of MIA's, for which he was MIA himself.

The SBVFT founders are brilliant strategists. I would not want to play poker against them, sit opposit them in court or play a game of chess with them as they would hand me my shorts. I would take up arms with them because I know that they would never back down.

My 2 cents. Don't lose faith. Their plan is brilliant.

BenDeR,

Go to www.beldar.org Beldar is a NC lawyer who had the misfortune to face O'Neill from the other side of a courtroom. He has a lot to say about the letter....most of it parallels your thoughts.

For myself, I agree as well. Kerry has been painted into a corner at the worst possible moment. I anticipate his speech today with a certain degree of savage glee.

kerry just apologised to the vets at the legion conv, I guess they will accept, I know its been hard for them, but the way I see this is that kerry has won again, nothing sticks to this man, i am very sad now and guess kerry will be next CinC, this man just keeps intimidating this country and getting away with it.I know you all gave your best, just wish the victory was on your side not his

Good grief, minnie - Kerry just gave a terrible speech which was received pretty coolly - how do you come to the conclusion that all is lost?

Come on - every time he opens his mouth, he brings on another self-inflicted wound! Celebrate! Let's hope he keeps talking! Very Happy

Having not heard Kerry's speech to the AL I can't comment on any apology that he may have made. BUT... that is only a small portion of what the letter requested.
Kerry must also admit that his combat records and commendation records were illegitimate, and he must admit that the SBVFT are correct in their charges regarding the records.
I believe Kerry has much more to admit, particularly his meetings with the VC/NV and his actions as a leader of the VVAW. Also, Kerry's record as a senator should exclude him as CIC.
SO... keep the faith, this guy is a dirtball and the SBV are heroes for telling the truth about JK.

He DID NOT apologize! I listened to his entire speech and there was NO apology. He weakly skirted the issue but he addressed NONE of the issues.

Kerry can't get into a back and forth discussion about this because the more he talks to the Swift Vets the more it looks like the charges are valid.

It would be illegal coordination between a candidate and a 527, No?

The concept of illegal coordination doesn't seem to have bothered Kerry. He made a phone call to CDR Brant, last week, asking if Brant had heard about these Swifts - Brant's reply was that he WAS one.

That should have ended the phone call, but Kerry continued to talk to the Commander about "why are all these guys so mad at me?" And, "I thought I made it clear at the dedication that it was all the other veterans I was talking about, not the Swifts." (paraphrasing, here - you can check it out through google, though.)
