Maybe -- although the President had two choices:
1) Continue to be slammed for not criticizing "that ad" OR
2) Take the issue off the table
He took it off the table in a way that won't hurt him or the Swift Vets. He also certainly knows that whatever he says is going to be spun in the least favorable light.
I don't think his comments take away at all from the effectiveness of the Swift Vet ads in the least. All in all, not a bad play for the President IMHO. |
