If you zoom in on the "th" in the USA Today PDF you can see it is not actually superscripted.

This is a scanning or copying error. Its noise on the copy or a fold in the original.

The font in the form is a standard 10-pitch typewriter font, Pica or something similar.

I don't know about you guys, but while I was in the military they were always about 8-10 years behind in the technology. If they even had selectrics then, I'd be surprised.

When checking the link given by Dave L, there was a superscripted "th". But all these documents were typed using constant-width characters, not proportional characters, and they are not Times New Roman characters.

Why would Rufus Martin (or his secretary) be using an ordinary Courier-font typewriter, and Jerry Killian a Times New Roman typewriter? Are there other known (official) documents by Jerry Killian which could be analyzed for comparison?

If the other documents signed by Jerry Killian all use Courier font, it would look very suspicious that he would use a different typewriter just to type a memo to himself in his "file".

Here's my question on the Superscript example.

If the 111th on line two was superscripted (as it appears it was) why were all of the other places where 111th appears on the page NOT?

If CBS uses this example of proof, people should just laugh at them. They are just digging deeper and deeper, especially listenting to Hannity, and what they did before the airing of 60 Minutes and Mr. Killian's son.

I agree - FAX machines introduce all kinds of image artifacts - all the rest of the occurrences of 111th in the document are normal and the font is NOT variable spaced.

I can assure you if you could see the original, you'd see the "th" is either whiteouted a little, or backspaced, or its just fine and the scanner makes it look funny.

Even if Lt Col Killian would "not rate" it is because Lt Bush was in Alabama and he had no information from Alabama. So what? That doesn't mean Lt Bush did anything bad. It would be normal not to be able to rate.

The giveaway is that the top of the "th" is no higher than the 111.

In the fake memos its actually higher.
