Yeah, I saw the reporters in the trenches, losing their lives to protect freedom. A few did, but it's definitely the military men and women who have fought to maintain ALL our freedoms.

Sooz-
You did fine I'm think'n. I had the honor of replying to the same kind of attack on the Swift vets in my local rag, the Anchorage Daily "Worker". As for the baseless title of "liers" I simply ask where they (the writer) there to refute what the Swiftys say? If not (as is always the case) I say shut-up, your opinion is as worthless as mine as I wasn't there either and we can only guess. The only ones capable of refuting Kerry's story are the small few who were there when it happened, just as the only ones allowed (IMHO) to challenge his awards are those who also where same. Those would be the Swifty's themselves, if their 220 stories all say "not" while Kerry says "so", well, I guess someone's wrong aren't they? I'm a 22 year Airborne vet, but as I don't wear either a Silver star or bronze my opinion is moot.
I do believe as long as someone responds to these attacks with cohearant, well written arguements when our papers print this tripe, the few thoughtfull voters out there will respond. The rest are simply sheep and will do as they are told by the talking heads they see on TV every night, a truely frightening concept.
If they can't refute your belief with fact, you're simply labeled a "racist-hate-mongering-homophobe-ultra-right-wing-extremist", a simple enough tactic. If you don't like the message, kill the messanger!

IN CASE THOSE OF YOU WHO READ THIS POST MIGHT HAVE WONDERED AS TO WHO THE EDITOR CHOSE TO "REPRESENT" THE SBVT IN A COLUMN, IT TURNED OUT TO BE ME. OF COURSE MY LETTER PALED IN COMPARISON TO THE OUTSTANDING EDITORIALS WRITTEN
HERE. ESPECIALLY SINCE I MESSED UP THE NUMBER OF THE AFFIDAVIT SIGNEES WITH THE NUMBER OF THE SWIFTEES IN THE GROUP OVERALL.

NEVER THE LESS, THE PAPER RAN MY ENTIRE RESPONSE, WITH JUST A FEW MINOR DELETIONS. I AM HAPPIEST ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE
SWIFT BOAT VETS WEBSITE IS MENTIONED!

SooZQ --

You did us proud!

Mr. Patrick is a parody of a journalist, huffing about how important the truth is, how the "right-wing lunatics" smear people they disagree with (Hellooo! Read your headline!), how there is no such thing as liberal bias in the media.

Either intentionally or through ignorance, he conflates "bad things happened in a war" with "bad things were done every day by everyone with the full knowledge and support of the chain of command." By his reasoning, all reporters are Jayson Blair...

Since this editor emailed me a link to a webpage
titled 'row boat soldiers for truth' a couple of weeks
ago, I decided to send him the great op-ed piece
from today's New York Post:
http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/30540.htm

His response to that was this:

Hey, were you the one who sent my column to the SBVFT blog? or to a guy
named Tom Mortensen with that group. I had somebody email me this week
to tell me that this Mortensen was behind the successful effort to con
CBS News about Bush's Guard record.
This is the Brave New World of politics as info-terrorism. These people
really are out to subvert democracy in the interest of protecting the
neoconservative oligarchy. I know I'll never convince you, but these
people are the bad guys, the ones who used to wear the black hats. Now
it's more like black ops. Only it's not in Vietnam or Nicaragua or
Lebanon anymore, it's in the U.S. Whoever said that "patriotism is the
last refuge of a scoundrel" is absolutely right. Patriotism is good but
it masks a lot of evil stuff and leads to unquestioning
follow-the-leader totalitarianism, which is what we're starting to see
in this country under the current regime. They will win at any cost.
Keep that in mind.

Holy smokes, maybe the stupid police are sneaking into bedrooms of
newspaper editors and installing the dreaded "dumb and dumber" chip? Shocked

I think I'm going to sue this barking moonbat for slander. Laughing I really must have rung his bell a few weeks ago. Either that or he reads Democrat Underground where I've been accused of everything short of murder. God! Ain't it great to be famous among moonbats.

Yeah Tom, I was just flabergasted by this one!
And I'm so impressed by your tricky plan!

Now are you FOR or AGAINST Kerry? And if you
are against him, how does it help you to plant
this evidence against Bush?

You twicky wabbit! Wink

Sooz,

Keep me posted. If the moonbat uses my name in print I want to know. I've already quickly discussed it with my attorney.
