I found the transcript for Zell Miller on Hardball (9/1) on MSNBC at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5892840/
It is as unpleasant (interruptions) as the show.

Do you realize what you're saying? You'd vote for integrity over party. What a novel concept! I wonder how many more Americans feel that way? How many vets? (I'm betting enough to elect just about anybody with integrity.)

So why do we have the lousy mess of politicians we have now?

I am a conservative independent, admittedly generally attracted to the Republican candidate, but I believe it is very important to the success of the American political system that we have two viable parties that offer voters alternative ideas and plans to achieve important objectives of this great country.

I believe Zell Miller not only helped his country by endorsing President Bush last night. Maybe more importantly, he served his party by delivering a much-needed wake-up call to Democrats. He was very passionate and very angry, because his party has let him down - it has veered so far off course that today's version bears almost no resemblance to the Democratic party that Zell joined as a young man.

Today's Dems seem more like the Un-American party than the opposition to the Republicans. The party has been hijacked by the radical left and the MSM, and its views today are closer to those of the French and the U.N. than to patriotic American democrats like Zell Miller.

Look at the people who competed for its Presidential nomination during a time of war, a world war unlike any this country has experienced.

And now, look who they selected - a guy with an anti-military, anti-war resume and without any signature accomplishments during his 19-year legislative career. Even worse, he proudly participated in high-profile, anti-war and un-American activities while still active military during the Vietnam War, and he even authored a book about it.

Is this the best today's Democratic party has to offer America?

Look at the behavior and decorem of the high-profile spokesmen and representatives of this party. Terry McAwful, Screamin' Al "he betrayed our country" Gore, Ted "Bush is a murderer" Kennedy, Lanny "they weren't on Kerry's boat" Smith, Al Sharpton, Howard "Bush lied" Dean, Susan "just another Bush smear" Ostrich, Hillary "right wing conspiracy" Clinton and her hubby, and all the others.

Look at the "girlie man" whining that comes from their Presidential candidate and all his surrogates, when reasonable criticisms of his military and his congressional records are offered by his political opponents.

Consider that this Democratic party has now even attempted to squelch the freedom of speech of an independent group of 250+ war veterans who served with Kerry in Vietnam and spoke out in opposition. How can the Democratic Party do something so overtly un-American?

And to make it worse, the same party has embraced hate-filled Hollywood libs as its "heart and soul," including an unscrupulous film maker who created a lie-infested fake-umentary slandering a sitting American President during a time of war. And this guy was seated in a box with an American ex-President at the Party's national convention.

Look at the baseless lies and attacks that the leaders of this party have directed at President Bush and others, rather than providing logical explanations and arguments that address legitimate criticisms pertaining to its candidate's record.

Zell Miller has the right to be angry with his party and its pathetic excuse for a Presidential candidate, and so does every other American citizen. The Democratic Party has deteriorated into an out-of-whack, shadow of its former self, and it desperately needed the dramatic wake-up call Zell Miller delivered last night.

Americans need two viable options, especially in presidential elections. It makes for healthy debate of the important issues of the day, and it gives voters a real choice of two great candidates with slightly different visions of how to preserve the greatness of America for future generations.

I am one independent who hopes the Democratic Party gets the reality-check its disenfranchised elder attempted to deliver. Zell Miller is a great American and a great Democrat who gave all he had last night for his country and his party.

Zell hit the Democrats right between the eyes, with a well-aimed, big, wet, sloppy spitball.

In so many words, he said "you've blown it, George Bush is the only choice for voters this time, and I am disgusted that my Democratic party is now completely irrelevant and out of touch with America."

Today, the party's leaders are once again whining like spoiled children.

Hopefully, grassroots Democrats got Zell's message last night. They need to thank Zell Miller. Then they need to fire all their "girlie men" and start restoring dignity and honor to their party, for the good of this country.

I read this, written by Rod Dreher, on a National Review Online 'blog. POETRY!

Quote:
If you ask me, I think Zell just dug up the stinking corpse of the effete Carter presidency, and rubbed it all over John Kerry.

FWIW,

A WBZ Boston radio commentator just stated on a program earlier this evening that he thought Zell Miller, last night, sounded "nuts."

The Far-Left Faithful hate people who disagree with them.

Thankyou for the kind words, and what a concept it would be!!! For our candidates to be discussing and trying to sell us on the best parts of being American instead of only one party doing so, (That would be Republicans until Zell last night).
Zell just might have single handedly saved the Democratic party, and in the process the entire political platform/discussion last night,,,,, if he is taken seriously by the Democratic party elites. The extremes of the left still have a strong hold on the party. (environmentalists, animal rights, socialists, nihilists, anarchists, communists, and Anti-American-ists)

God I hope I am right.

Motormouth Matthews had no effective reply to Miller's denunciation of his treatment of Michelle Malkin.

Matthews falsely claimed that she said Kerry's wounds were intentionally self-inflicted, as opposed to self-inflicted. This from a guy who supports the "nuanced" candidate.

Stole this from another forum, but it fits perfectly as the motto for the Zellots:

I'm mad as Zell, and I'm not going to take it any more!

I agreed with much of Zell's speech; but I am going to side here with those who say he came across as "nuts".

Miller spoke with a lot of anger. I don't blame him. We all know how much he has to be angry about. But Americans don't like their politicians angry. Americans like their politicians happy and positive - focus on the future, a constructive program - think Reagan. When we say a politician is "unhinged", we mean that he is pure anger - think Howard Dean, Al Gore, or Hitler.

And if you absolutely must knock an opponent, Americans want you to do it with humor. On Monday night, Rudy Guiliani made the same basic points about Kerry, but Rudy is a happy memory (at least for me) - because he did it with humor.

Bush is going to pay for Miller's speech, and here's how: The Democrats and their allies will replay clips of Miller endlessly - without words - only allowing people to see Miller's face and body language. They will probably create new ads suggesting that the Republicans are unpleasant if not downright hateful. Those ads will have passing glimpses of Miller - again with no sound (no reference to all the right-on things Miller had to say).

The subject matter of Zell's speech warranted a serious tone. Joking about national security, which was his main theme, would not have come off well. I think the vast majority of people likely see Zell's speech as powerful, sincere, and truthful. I don't think he came off as nuts at all. Some thought Churchill was nuts too.

Give em Hell Zell!!! You did GREAT!

All Marines are "nuts". You're issued a pair when you graduate boot camp, and they tend to stay with you for life.

It's a burden, sometimes. But, it beats the alternative.
