Just watching Kerry at the VFW. Lukewarm polite response at best. It appears he has to encourage applause. Some people on the platform are not applauding anything he says.
He just said "I have kept faith with you for 35 years." Horsehockey!
And now he says he has written Veterans Health Care legislation. I need to see that one. He hasn't done squat that I can find.
Now he is going to build a stronger military! Lying bastard.
Now he is going to strengthen Intelligence. How many Senate Intell Committee meetings did he miss? %80?? Sorry ass sack of crap! _________________ Better a sister in a whore house than Teeraysuh in the White House. |

I also noted that he clamed to be a life member of the VFW. Does anyone know which post, and if he is a member, or if so when he changed his position on the VFW and became a life member? |

If he's a VFW member, why didn't he have the courtesy to wear his hat?

Daniel, can you please cite the reference for the John Kerry VFW membership claim?
Maybe a good idea to move this thread to the R&R for the hard core data heads to pursue. _________________ USMC 69-72, 7th Comm, 3rd MarDiv, FMFPAC

Stupsun,
I would assume that when Kerry was supporting the North Vietnamese and he did go into Cambodia, he could qualify as a veteran of a foreign war. _________________ Wootten A. York

NO.
All the following observations come from "one chapter" in northeast Nebraska:
I wanted to join the VFW (because my dad was a member) when I got out/got back. It wasn't until several years later (roughly when Reagan was in office) that they changed their official rules, and started admitting VietNam veterans.
The reason for the rule made technical sense: VietNam wasn't a WAR. It was a POLICE ACTION.
There were several older guys back then who didn't like the rule ...
The REALLY old guys had come up with the initial rule (WWI, WWII vets).
Some of those guys, at the time, were pushing, exceeding sixty! go figure ...
So they started making exceptions for Korean (police action!) vets.
As the WWII vets started dying off, their replacements started looking at VietNam people, and changed things.
I never went back (was annoyed at furst, but I've calmed down) ...
I think they are 'more strict' than American Legion, but not too unyeilding.
I think "combat zone" or equivalent now qualifies a vet for VFW membership. |

I joined both the VFW & American Legion (they shared the same building) in 1968 at Oxford, MS while attending Ole Miss there. It was that or drive 45 miles one way for a beer!
That was Archie Manning's Freshman year. He was as good as either of his boys.

You guys carefully re-read what I said. I am being sarcastic since Kerry spent most of his time supporting the other side. It is merely a spoof being that he claimed he was in Cambodia. It was no secret that we had MAAG folks in Cambodia, I sent several on site teams over there to help clean up blown up ammo dumps in 1972. In 1974 I was on orders to go to Cambodia as an EOD advisor for MAAG but it went down the tubes before I finished my studies at DLI in Monertrey, CA trying to learn French. _________________ Wootten A. I know, that's why I thought of the story from Burkett's book. Only Burkett wasn't joking. He says they did elect a NVA vet to the Post President. So you may have the right answer for Kerry's claim. _________________ A Grunt

I am really disappointed in the vets at the VFW...I think they should have taken a more active stance in their dislike of Kerry...like the few men who did stand and place their backs towards him. I think all of the vets should have done that! Disappointment! _________________ Born to raise a little hell! |

I joined the Herd in Jan. '65 on Oki and was with them when we deployed TDY May 5, to Bien Hoa. I was in 4.2 Mortar Platoon HHC 2Bn 503 Inf. Spent most of my time with with B Co. as FO. That TDY turned into a PCS and I was 2 weeks short of a "tour". _________________ A Grunt

I had to force myself to watch Hanoi Kerry speak at the VFW Convention today.
This traitor told a lie a minute.
BUT I did hear some boo's in the audience.
That made my day! _________________ USS CORRY DD 817
